About this role
The Robotic Simulation Engineer develops and deploys high‑fidelity robotic simulation environments to validate all aspects of industrial robotics prior to commissioning.
You will use robotic simulation software to develop complex robotic virtual environments, implement and integrate robotic standards, build reusable component libraries, and guide engineering workflows with industry leading robotic simulation tools.
Robotic simulation encompasses mechanical design, simulation, and automation, requiring the Robotic Simulation Engineer to collaborate across teams and possess a robust understanding of the industrial automation development process. The ideal candidate will have extensive virtual and hands-on experience in all facets of robotic applications used in manufacturing from initial concepts to process optimization, to upgrades and modifications. Experience with multiple robot brands and applications is desired.
- Creating simulations and offline programs primarily with Siemens Process Simulate
- Review simulation data with integrators or internal engineers to confirm conformance to requirements and functional standards
- Conduct virtual equipment buyoffs and pre‑startup validation to reduce onsite commissioning time
- Work cross‑functionally with controls, automation, mechanical, and software teams to ensure simulation models support design decisions, code validation, and commissioning readiness
- Advanced robot programming including Fanuc DCS, Kuka SafeOperation, ABB SafeMove, developing custom robot application code to interface with new technologies
- Create and maintain robotic simulation libraries
- Create automated test frameworks to validate logic behavior before deployment. Also create tools to automate environment development
- Work with robotic simulation software suppliers to review and utilize the latest industry tools and platforms
- Document simulation approaches, model architecture, modeling assumptions, validation methods, and commissioning workflows for global reuse
- Develop standards to direct internal and external teams on virtual commissioning requirements and workflows for efficient and effective use
- Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, automation, robotics, or equivalent experience
- Experience with robotic programming or offline simulation creation, primarily in Siemens Process Simulate
- Excellent robotic high level and background programming skills on Fanuc, KUKA, ABB or equivalent brands
- Hands on experience commissioning and programming industrial robots
- 4+ years of experience in highly automated high volume manufacturing industries
- Programming ability in Python, C++, ROS, or similar
- Experience with robotic software (Fanuc RoboGuide, ABB RobotStudio, KUKA iiQWorks, EKS), virtual platforms Omniverse/Isaac Sim, and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Catia, or similar)
