The Assistant Starbucks Manager supports the Starbucks Manager in leading daily kiosk operations, delivering a consistent and welcoming customer experience, maintaining beverage and food quality, and developing a knowledgeable and engaged team. This position helps coordinate daily workflow, maintain operational and food safety standards, manage inventory, and ensure the department is clean, stocked, organized, and prepared to serve customers efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Starbucks Manager with the overall operation and performance of the Starbucks kiosk or department.
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to Starbucks associates throughout the workday.
- Help train, coach, and develop associates on beverage preparation, customer service, food safety, sanitation, and department procedures.
- Coordinate daily workflow and assign positions based on customer traffic and business needs.
- Ensure beverages and food items are prepared accurately, consistently, and according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Monitor product quality, presentation, availability, and freshness throughout the day.
- Maintain a clean, organized, stocked, and customer-ready department.
- Ensure appropriate levels of cups, lids, ingredients, food products, supplies, and other operating materials are available.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, rotation, and organization of department products and supplies.
- Monitor product availability and take appropriate action to address out-of-stocks.
- Help control product waste, shrink, and unnecessary supply usage.
- Provide friendly, efficient, and professional customer service.
- Monitor customer wait times and adjust associate assignments during periods of high customer volume.
- Assist with associate scheduling and daily coverage based on anticipated business needs.
- Help monitor labor and productivity while maintaining appropriate service levels.
- Ensure opening, closing, cleaning, stocking, and operational responsibilities are completed accurately.
- Support department sales, customer service, productivity, and operational goals.
- Communicate equipment, product, staffing, or operational concerns to appropriate leadership.
- Take responsibility for department operations in the Starbucks Manager's absence.
- Partner with store leadership and other departments to support overall store priorities and events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.
Leadership Expectations

Customer Service
- Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
- Provide prompt, accurate, and professional service throughout the customer interaction.
- Assist customers with beverage selections, food options, customization requests, and product questions.
- Ensure customer orders are prepared accurately and presented appropriately.
- Respond professionally to customer concerns and work toward timely solutions.
- Monitor service levels during busy periods and help organize the team to reduce customer wait times.
- Maintain a clean and inviting customer area.
- Promote a positive experience that encourages customers to return.
Beverage & Product Quality
- Ensure beverages are prepared according to established recipes, portions, and presentation standards.
- Monitor beverage ingredients and food products for quality, freshness, and proper rotation.
- Reinforce accurate beverage sequencing and efficient production practices.
- Ensure associates use appropriate equipment, tools, and preparation procedures.
- Monitor product consistency and provide coaching when standards are not being met.
- Ensure food and beverage products are properly stored, handled, labeled, and rotated.
- Maintain appropriate product levels during peak business periods.
- Help minimize product waste while maintaining strong availability and service.
Food Safety & Sanitation
- Follow and reinforce established food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ensure proper handwashing, personal hygiene, glove use, and safe food-handling practices.
- Maintain appropriate temperature controls for food, milk, and other temperature-sensitive products.
- Ensure counters, equipment, utensils, sinks, storage areas, refrigeration, and customer-facing areas are properly cleaned and sanitized.
- Reinforce cleaning schedules and ensure required cleaning tasks are completed throughout the day.
- Monitor proper storage, labeling, dating, and rotation of products.
- Immediately communicate food safety, sanitation, temperature, pest, or equipment concerns to appropriate leadership.
Inventory & Operations
- Assist with ordering and maintaining appropriate inventory levels based on sales and anticipated demand.
- Receive and organize products and supplies according to department procedures.
- Maintain organized storage and backstock areas.
- Monitor high-use products and anticipate replenishment needs before shortages occur.
- Ensure supplies are stocked and readily available for associates during service.
- Support inventory control and product rotation to reduce waste and shrink.
- Monitor equipment condition and report maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Help ensure registers, beverage equipment, refrigeration, and other department equipment are operational and ready for business.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, lift, carry, push, and pull products, equipment, or supplies as required.
- Ability to perform repetitive beverage preparation, stocking, cleaning, and customer-service activities.
- Ability to safely work around hot beverages, hot water, brewing equipment, refrigeration, and other department equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment during periods of high customer traffic.
- Ability to frequently move between register, beverage preparation, food, stocking, and cleaning responsibilities.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
