About this role
Who We Are
- Boston Consulting Group partners with leaders in business and society to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact.
To succeed, organizations must blend digital and human capabilities. Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives to spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting along with technology and design, corporate and digital ventures—and business purpose. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.
What You'll Do
BCG’s internal functions are the foundation of how our firm operates—representing thousands of professionals and significant investments that enable exceptional client impact at global scale. Our functions have been on a multi-year journey upgrading technology, harmonizing processes, evolving our workforce, and driving functional transformations. AI now makes the next chapter larger with value coming from reshaping how we work to become even more scalable & adaptable.
The Operational Innovations (OI) team sits at the center of this transformation. We drive high-priority, high-impact initiatives from technology and AI deployments to process & org redesigns. We partner directly with firm and functional leaders to make change happen at pace.
As a Global OI Senior Director, you'll lead this agenda. You'll shape and set direction, manage a dynamic project portfolio, build senior relationships, and develop the next generation of OI talent — all while modelling what it looks like to work in a genuinely AI-forward way.
Key Activities and Responsibilities include:
Drive Transformation Initiatives
- Own end-to-end delivery of high-impact transformation projects — framing the business challenge and shaping the solution from scoping and design through deployment and stabilization
- Lead AI and tech-enabled change — shape the approach, apply and advance leading transformation practices, oversee workstreams, and ensure adoption sticks
- Manage project scope, timelines, risks, and dependencies with rigor; communicate clearly to keep senior stakeholders aligned
- Build cross-functional teams — OI professionals, IT, Finance, HR, etc. — and lead them to measurable outcomes
Shape the Portfolio & Roadmap
- Partner with functions & business leaders to define and prioritize the change agenda — translating ambition into a sequenced, deliverable roadmap
- Track progress, surface risks early, and adapt plans without losing momentum – applying sound judgement to anticipate and resolve complex or escalated challenges
- Define success metrics and hold teams accountable for delivering value, not just activity
Lead as an AI Champion
- Model AI-forward ways of working —in how you plan, communicate, and problem-solve
- Embed AI and digital tools into team workflows — identify opportunities to move faster and smarter through technology
- Create forums to share learnings across BCG and build broader capability in transformation and change leadership
- Grow & Develop the OI Team
- Manage and develop team members with an eye on career growth, capability building, and high performance
- Drive a culture that is collaborative, curious, inclusive, and fun
- Partner with others on the OI Leadership Team to lead & develop the OI team — including staffing, career development, recruiting, training, and affiliation
YOU’RE GOOD AT
- Driving the human and technical sides of change and program management. You've delivered large-scale change programs and know how to bring people along
- Communicating with senior leaders. You operate with executive presence. Senior leaders trust you, seek your input, and act on it. You communicate clearly, influence without authority, and know when to push and when to flex
- Flexing between strategy and execution. You can zoom out to set direction and zoom in to unblock a workstream
- Navigating complex environments at pace. You are comfortable managing multiple deliverables with multiple inputs often with high impact, time sensitive requirements. You will thrive in leading and driving change in an often-ambiguous environment
- Leading as both a project manager and a change manager. Flexing when needed
- Managing and developing global teams effectively. You are viewed as an inspiring leader, with a focus on growing your teams
What You'll Bring
10 + years of proven experience leading large-scale transformation programs in complex, matrixed organizations — ideally with significant AI, technology, or digital components
Deep capability across change management and project management, from strategy through implementation
Significant experience building trusted relationships with and influencing senior leaders, as well as leading cross-functional teams
Global or international experience; comfortable leading across time zones and cultures
A genuine appetite for AI tools and what they unlock
Advanced degree, professional services background (BCG or equivalent), or PM credentials a plus
Who You'll Work With
This role will require interaction with a wide range of stakeholders including our global leadership and various functional & business leaders. You will also work with specialists from the Consulting Team, HR, Finance, IT, and our other functions as required for a given project or program
