Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

The Construction Buyer responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting the Nucor Construction team and Division capital project teams, through fulfillment of procurement needs in a timely and cost-effective manner by:

- Developing and maintaining relationships with key internal & external vendors/contractors

- Evaluating vendors’ product and/or service capabilities

- Procuring materials & maintaining project files for capital projects to ensure timely delivery for project execution

- Understanding internal purchase accounting to ensure orders are recorded for appropriate amounts

- Ensuring compliance with Nucor Corporation & Division specific purchasing processes, policies, and controls

- Ensuring contracts are in place and executing statement of works or order acknowledgements as applicable

Must be willing to work before and after regularly scheduled work hours as business conditions warrant.

This position is a fully in-office role located in Charlotte, NC and requires up to 50% travel to divisions, especially green field projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or related field or 5 years of relevant experience

- Two or more years of purchasing related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Construction materials purchasing experience

- Oracle or other large ERP experience

- Contract experience
