Position Overview
The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) seeks a Lecturer to facilitate Faculty Development programs in the Cetner for Faculty Advancement Mentoring and Engagement (FAME).
The successful candidate will contribute to the College of Medicine through the design, delivery, and evaluation of evidence-informed programming focused on leadership development, faculty effectiveness, mentoring excellence, academic career advancement, organizational culture, and faculty thriving. This individual will work collaboratively with the Center for Faculty Advancement, Mentoring and Engagement (FAME) and other College of Medicine partners to strengthen leadership capacity and faculty success across the academic health center.
The position requires extensive experience leading faculty development initiatives within an academic medical center and a demonstrated understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing faculty throughout their academic careers.
Essential Responsibilities
Teaching and Facilitation
- Design and deliver educational programs, workshops, and seminars related to: Leadership development
- Academic career advancement
- Faculty mentoring and sponsorship
- Faculty vitality and well-being
- Resilience and professional effectiveness
- Communication, influence, and relationship building
- Team effectiveness and collaboration
- Change leadership and organizational effectiveness
- Apply adult learning principles and evidence-based educational practices to course and program development.
- Facilitate interactive learning experiences for faculty, administrators, clinician educators, researchers, and emerging leaders.
Leadership and Faculty Development
- Support the development, implementation, facilitation, and evaluation of faculty development initiatives across the College of Medicine.
- Collaborate with FAME leadership on faculty leadership and career development programming.
- Contribute to strategic planning efforts that advance faculty engagement, professional growth, and leadership effectiveness.
- Develop resources, tools, and assessments to support faculty success throughout the academic career continuum.
Program Evaluation and Scholarship
- Design and implement program evaluation strategies to assess outcomes and impact of faculty development initiatives.
- Utilize data to guide continuous improvement efforts.
- Contribute to scholarly dissemination through presentations, publications, and educational scholarship focused on faculty development, mentoring, leadership development, and faculty vitality in academic medicine.
- Serve as a content expert in leadership development and faculty affairs.
Service
- Participate in School, College, and University service activities.
- Serve on committees and working groups that support faculty advancement and leadership development.
- Represent SHRS and the College of Medicine in local, regional, and national faculty development initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, Health Professions Education, Organizational Development, or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching and facilitating professional development programs in higher education or healthcare settings.
- Demonstrated excellence in public speaking, facilitation, and curriculum development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in faculty affairs, academic affairs, faculty development, or career development within an academic medical center.
- Experience directing or co-directing a comprehensive faculty affairs, academic affairs, or faculty development office serving faculty across multiple academic tracks and career stages.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and evaluating institution-wide faculty leadership development programs.
- Experience creating and managing faculty mentoring initiatives, mentorship training programs, faculty networking programs, onboarding programs, and faculty vitality initiatives.
- Record of peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and educational scholarship related to faculty development, mentoring, leadership development, faculty vitality, or academic medicine.
- Experience supervising professional staff and leading cross-functional teams responsible for faculty development programming.
- Active engagement and leadership in national organizations focused on faculty affairs, academic medicine, leadership development, or faculty advancement.
- Experience securing, managing, or evaluating externally funded programs supporting faculty development or career advancement initiatives.
- Demonstrated expertise in adult learning theory and evidence-based approaches to leadership development.
- Knowledge of faculty promotion pathways, academic career progression, faculty engagement, and leadership development within academic health centers.
- Familiarity with and understanding of the mission, structure, and programming of the Ohio State University College of Medicine's Center for Faculty Advancement, Mentoring and Engagement (FAME), including leadership development programs, faculty mentoring initiatives, faculty vitality efforts, and academic career development programming.
- Experience collaborating with medical school leadership, department chairs, faculty affairs professionals, and faculty development offices to advance institutional faculty success goals.

Faculty Defined
Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.
Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching.
Tenure-track faculty with MD, DO or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.
Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
