As Head of West Region, United States Private Banking, the role holder is responsible for the leadership, strategic execution, and financial performance of HSBC’s Global Private Banking business across the Western region of the United States.

This includes oversight of client segments, front office activities, and regional execution of the US Private Banking strategy.

- The role holder is accountable for delivering sustainable regional growth, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring alignment with HSBC’s global and US private banking strategy, while maintaining the highest standards of risk management, regulatory compliance, and conduct
- As a senior member of the US Private Banking leadership team, the role holder contributes to the execution of national strategy and ensures effective collaboration across regions and global businesses

Principal Accountabilities:

- Full regional Profit and Loss (P&L) accountability for the West Region Private Banking business, including revenue growth, cost management, profitability, and capital efficiency
- Execute the US market strategy within the region, including client segmentation, target markets, and growth priorities, aligned with global GPB strategy
- Drive regional growth, client acquisition, and deepening of existing client relationships
- Lead the delivery of client propositions tailored to regional market dynamics, including investment, lending, and wealth planning solutions
- Align regional business plans with national strategic priorities and performance scorecards
- Make key decisions on matters with financial, legal, and reputational implications within the region
- Ensure optimal deployment of regional resources (financial and human capital) to achieve business objectives
- Oversee regional adherence to booking center practices and global/local standards

- Deliver sustained growth and profitability in a highly competitive and mature wealth market
- Balance growth ambitions with stringent risk and compliance requirements
- Attract, retain, and develop top private banking talent in a competitive regional market
- Ensure consistent execution of national strategy while adapting to regional client needs

Customers:

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) and high-net-worth (HNW) clients and Private clients (PC) within the region
- Actively engage in client relationship management for strategic and complex client situations
- Ensure delivery of best-in-class client experience and service standards across the region
- Drive a client-centric culture within the regional business
- Ensure suitability and appropriateness of advice in line with regulatory and internal standards
- Address and resolve client issues promptly, including escalations from risk, compliance, or product governance functions
- Promote cross-border capabilities and global connectivity for clients

Leadership & Teamwork

- Provide strong regional leadership and act as a senior representative of HSBC Private Banking in the West Region
- Lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams, including Relationship Managers and regional leadership
- Drive a high-performance culture aligned with HSBC values
- Create an inclusive and engaging work environment focused on talent development and succession planning
- Act as escalation point for material regional business, risk, or reputational issues
- Collaborate closely with the Head of US Private Banking and other regional heads to ensure consistent delivery of strategy
- Partner with global and product teams to deliver integrated client solutions

Operational Effectiveness & Control

- Ensure robust operational infrastructure supporting front-to-back processes and client lifecycle management within the region
- Maintain effective relationships with control functions (Risk, Compliance, Legal) and ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks
- Embed Global Standards, including Financial Crime Risk (FCR), Conduct, and Operational Risk frameworks
- Ensure adherence to policies on cross-border business, suitability, and tax transparency
- Oversee implementation of governance frameworks and internal controls within the region
- Drive operational efficiency and cost discipline across the regional business
- Ensure effective information security and data protection practices

Management of Risk

- Awareness of the Operational Risk scenarios associated with the role and manages regional activities accordingly
- Ensure appropriate client review processes are conducted across the region
- Balance risk and return in decision-making and maintain effective risk monitoring as the business scales
- Escalate material risks and issues to the Head of US Private Banking as appropriate

Observation of Internal Controls

- Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points
- Understands and ensures compliance with all relevant internal (FIM) and external rules and regulations
- Ensures adherence to internal controls and all applicable Compliance policies

Knowledge & Experience

- FINRA Licensing requirements (active and valid): Series 7, 63, 9, 10, 24, 66, 53 Municipal, Life and Health
- Deep understanding of the US wealth management and private banking landscape
- Strong knowledge of investment products, credit solutions, and wealth structuring
- Strong awareness of risk management frameworks across banking businesses
- Understanding of HSBC’s global capabilities and value proposition

Education / Relevant Experience / Other Qualifications

- University degree required; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in private banking or wealth management, with significant leadership experience
- Proven track record in managing regional or large-scale financial services businesses
- Strong understanding of US regulatory environment (at an operational and supervisory level)
- Demonstrated ability to lead within a matrixed, global organization
- Strong client management and business development capabilities

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
