Props and Decor Artisan

The Props and Decor Artisan will work to fabricate props and set dcor according to specifications given by the props and dcor designers and Scene Shop Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Construct hand props and set decor elements.

- Build animal costumes from different fabrics and materials.

- Assist in all build related tasks that relate directly to theatrical sets and scenery, flats, drops, props, and decor.

- Adhere to timeline and deadlines set by project management.

- Assist during the show changeover process by assembling and striking any needed dcor items.

- Support and uphold the vision and direction of the team as set forth by leadership.

Prerequisites:

- Previous experience as a set dress, set decorator, or in a related role in theater, film, or television

- Experience in operating sewing equipment, scene shop tools, and machinery

- Ability to use general craft, painting, and building skills to follow designs plans and instructions accurately

- Ability to communicate well and keep a positive attitude in a highly collaborative and diverse team atmosphere

- Excellent organizational and time management skills to work on multiple tasks effectively

Other Skills and / or Requirements: (Proficient in 2 or more of the following):

- Sewing (Preferred)

- Foliage arrangement (Preferred)

- Knowledge of Smooth-On Products

- Sculpting/Molding/Casting

- Painting

- Carpentry

- Leatherwork

- 3D Printing

- Color Theory: Understanding of color palettes, combinations, and schemes to create a harmonious and impactful visual appeal.

- Spatial awareness: Ability to visualize how different elements will fit and interact within the physical space.

The physical demands of this position are active in nature. You will be expected to be on your feet frequently, walk and stand regularly, sit regularly, work indoors, use step stools, operate small machinery and power tools, and frequently lift/exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
