Job Description The Manufacturing Process Engineer supports the development, planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for precision aerospace gears and flight-critical components. This role establishes manufacturing methods, coordinates internal and external processing activities, supports production on the shop floor, drives process and quality improvements, and ensures compliance with customer requirements and aerospace quality standards. Responsibilities

- Develop, plan, and implement manufacturing processes for precision aerospace gears and flight-critical components from raw material through finished product.
- Establish and document manufacturing methods, standard work, and detailed manufacturing instructions to ensure consistent, repeatable production.
- Create and maintain process documentation, including routings, work instructions, and drawings with proper application of GD&T.
- Support daily production activities by addressing manufacturing execution issues and resolving shop-floor concerns in a timely manner.
- Lead and participate in root cause investigations for production and quality issues, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing performance, process capability, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Coordinate internal and external processing activities, including machining, heat treating, coatings, NDT, and final machining operations.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, and outside vendors to ensure robust processes and reliable supply.
- Interpret engineering requirements and customer specifications and translate them into practical, manufacturable process plans.
- Act as process owner for assigned products and operations, ensuring processes remain compliant with aerospace quality systems and customer requirements.
- Balance immediate production support needs with longer-term process improvement projects and strategic manufacturing initiatives.
- Support and influence manufacturing flow and sequencing to optimize throughput, efficiency, and resource utilization.

Essential Skills

- Direct aerospace manufacturing processing experience, specifically with flight-critical components and precision gears.
- Hands-on experience processing aerospace hardware from raw material through finished product.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing flow, sequencing, and shop-floor operations.
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM tools, including Siemens NX and MasterCam.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, requirements, and customer specifications, including GD&T.
- Experience supporting machining operations, heat treat, coatings, non-destructive testing (NDT), and final machining.
- Comfort working directly on the manufacturing floor with significant shop-floor interaction.
- Experience working with outside vendors and special process suppliers.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Project management skills to coordinate multiple activities and balance production support with process improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality systems such as AS9100 and NADCAP or similar standards.
- Demonstrated ability to drive manufacturing process improvements and support continuous improvement efforts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience working on precision gears, drivetrain components, castings, forgings, and aerospace metals.
- Background in advanced aerospace manufacturing processes, including machining, heat treating, coatings, and special processes.
- Understanding of manufacturing documentation practices, including standard work, process instructions, and controlled process records.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, and Supply Chain.
- Comfortable acting as a technical liaison with vendors and special process suppliers.
- Interest in influencing manufacturing performance, quality, and delivery within long-term aerospace programs.
- Motivation to contribute to complex engineering challenges in both commercial and defense aerospace applications.

Work Environment This role is based on-site at an aerospace manufacturing facility with significant shop-floor interaction and direct involvement in daily production activities. The Manufacturing Process Engineer works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, and vendors in a highly collaborative environment. The facility provides exposure to advanced aerospace manufacturing processes, including machining, heat treating, coatings, special processes, and quality systems. Typical work involves hands-on engagement with gears, castings, forgings, aerospace metals, and flight-critical drivetrain components. The environment emphasizes safety, precision, and adherence to aerospace quality standards, while offering the opportunity to support long-term commercial and defense aerospace programs and complex engineering challenges.

This is a Permanent position based out of Manchester, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $87000.00 - $110000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
