Field Engineer – AEGIS Test Team (AN/SQQ‑89A(V) Sonar Suite)

Position Summary

The Field Engineer serves as a key member of the AEGIS Test Team (ATT) in Pascagoula, MS, providing on-site oversight, installation support, system testing, and post–sail away assistance for the AN/SQQ‑89A(V) Sonar Suite. The role requires coordination with ATT personnel, ship’s force, and shipyard teams to ensure correct installation, verification, and operational readiness of Undersea Warfare (USW) systems throughout all stages of production.

The engineer assists the onsite Government representative during industrial installation, supports troubleshooting efforts, validates system interoperability, and contributes to daily and weekly reporting requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

Installation Oversight

- Review drawings, technical documentation, and procedures related to AN/SQQ‑89A(V)15 installations and upgrades.
- Assists the Government representative during shipboard industrial installation.
- Witness shipyard-conducted tests as directed by ATT Management.
- System Testing & Verification
- Coordinate and conduct testing of newly installed sonar system components.
- Perform System Interoperability Validation (SIV) and equipment grooms using approved Government procedures.
- Support assessments and at-sea test events as required.
- Troubleshooting & Corrective Actions
- Perform fault isolation and implement corrective actions for system issues.
- Resolve installation and testing discrepancies, including visual, mechanical, and electrical issues identified during assessments.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Provide updates on installation and testing activities for daily and weekly reports.
- Document system discrepancies and support preparation of formal assessment materials.
- Conduct configuration audits to verify installed USW system baselines according to schedules and instructions.
- Customer & Team Coordination
- Serve as an on-site representative for the AN/SQQ‑89A(V)15 system, ensuring prompt issue resolution and minimal schedule impact.
- Coordinate with ship’s force, shipyard personnel, and ATT team members to resolve installation and testing challenges.

Basic Qualifications

- BS degree with 2–4 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience; equivalent military or technical experience may be considered.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to operate standard electronic test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
- Basic networking and/or Linux experience.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds, climb ladders, and perform shipboard industrial activities.
- Ability to work in an industrial/shipyard environment.
- Valid passport required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Understanding of basic sonar principles, equipment, and system interfaces.
- Ability to troubleshoot and test connectors, cabling, and power systems.
- Technical experience with U.S. Navy combat systems.
- Proficiency with MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience communicating effectively with senior U.S. Government personnel.
- US Citizenship required with Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in a shipyard environment.
- Experience in technical documentation, including ECP/ECO development.
- Direct customer support or customer interface experience.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to anticipate testing and integration needs.
- Ability to research, analyze, and present technical/logistics data and recommended options for Government decision-making.

## Pay Range:
Pay Range $59,150.00 - $106,925.00
