Position Summary

The Repower Project Engineer supports the planning, execution, and successful delivery of wind turbine repower projects. The role serves as a key interface between project management, construction, procurement, engineering, subcontractors, and customers to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality and contractual requirements.

The Project Engineer is responsible for leading assigned project workstreams and coordinating technical and commercial project activities, maintaining project documentation, supporting schedule and cost management, facilitating issue resolution, and driving day-to-day project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution

- Support Project Managers in the planning and execution of repower projects from initiation through closeout, while independently leading assigned project workstreams.

- Coordinate project activities among field teams, subcontractors, engineering, procurement, logistics, and customers.

- Track project deliverables, milestones, action items, risks, and open issues.

- Lead and facilitate project meetings for assigned workstreams and document key decisions and action items.

- Develop and maintain assigned portions of project execution plans in coordination with the Project Manager.

Schedule Management

- Support development and maintenance of project schedules.

- Monitor project progress against milestones and identify potential schedule risks.

- Coordinate schedule updates with construction, subcontractors, and project controls.

- Develop and coordinate recovery actions for assigned workstreams when delays or disruptions occur.

Commercial & Contract Support

- Assist with contract administration and compliance with customer and subcontract requirements.

- Prepare and support the review of change orders, claims, notices, and commercial correspondence in coordination with the Project Manager.

- Track project commitments, purchase orders, subcontract values, and budget changes.

- Ensure project records are organized and retained in accordance with company procedures.

Procurement & Logistics

- Coordinate material deliveries and project procurement activities.

- Monitor long-lead items and communicate potential impacts to project schedules.

- Manage day-to-day vendor and subcontractor coordination for assigned scopes and escalate commercial or schedule risks as needed.

- Track equipment readiness and site mobilization requirements.

Construction Support

- Work closely with Construction Managers and Site Managers to support field execution.

- Assist with site logistics planning and resource coordination.

- Coordinate resolution of technical, schedule, and commercial issues within assigned scopes, engaging the Project Manager and functional leads as required.

- Participate in project site visits as required.

Project Controls

- Support monthly project reporting processes.

- Track project costs, commitments, forecasts, and productivity metrics.

- Coordinate with schedulers and cost controllers to maintain data accuracy.

- Assist with project risk identification and mitigation planning.

Compliance & Quality

- Support compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and company policies.

- Coordinate quality documentation and project turnover packages.

- Support project compliance with applicable labor, prevailing wage, and regulatory requirements and reporting, when applicable.

- Ensure proper document control throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Closeout

- Coordinate completion of punch-list activities.

- Coordinate collection and turnover of project documentation for assigned scopes.

- Support lessons-learned reviews and project closeout reporting.

- Verify completion of contractual deliverables for assigned scopes.

Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or related discipline.

- Equivalent industry experience may be considered.

Experience

- 3 to 8 years of project engineering, construction, project management, EPC, or renewable energy experience.

- Wind industry, heavy construction, power generation, or infrastructure project experience preferred.

- Experience supporting multiple stakeholders in a dynamic project environment.

Technical Skills

- Microsoft Office Suite.

- Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar scheduling software.

- Cost tracking and project reporting systems.

- Contract and document management tools.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability to travel to project sites as required.

- Ability to work in active construction environments.

- Ability to climb wind turbines and utilize fall protection equipment when required.

- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and work outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
