About this role

As the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) Cluster Manager (Bay Area), you will be a member of the Global Environment, Health, and Safety team. You won't just be checking boxes; you will be the primary architect for implementing Google’s Global Safety Management Framework across our dynamic Bay Area campus.
You will partner with cross-functional teams—from Engineering to Facilities—including complex electrical infrastructure.
From keeping Googlers safe and secure to managing disruptive events, the ability to anticipate, deter, detect, and act are the pillars of Google’s Global Security and Resilience Services (GSRS) team. As a member of GSRS you will help develop a culture where safety, security and resiliency are integrated into every facet of Google, including the creative process. You will help us continually identify, evaluate and monitor enterprise risks that could affect business activities and provide business leaders the information they need to make critical decisions. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative strategies and develop programs that drive sustainable effectiveness.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $128000 - $187000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Chemistry, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

- 7 years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS).

- 7 years of experience in physical safety (e.g., confined space, fall protection, lift programs), industrial hygiene (e.g., indoor air quality, exposure assessments, working with local regulators), event safety, or retail Safety.

Preferred qualifications:

- Certifications in CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager).

- Experience building and scaling safety programs, training modules, and job aids from the ground up.

- Proficiency in using technology/software systems to track EHS metrics and scale safety initiatives across a large portfolio.

- Proven ability to manage complex, concurrent projects in a changing, evolving environment.

- Strong problem-solving capabilities.

- Proven track record of increasing responsibility within Operations or R&D environments.

- Develop and integrate safety solutions based on proactive risk assessments to maximize worker protection in Research and Development (R&D) and lab settings.

- Oversee the creation of educational materials, program documentation, and digital tracking systems to ensure safety solutions scale across the Bay Area cluster.

- Partner with site leads to embed safety protocols into daily operations, ensuring minimal friction and maximum compliance.

- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments; draft high-level reports for leadership on site safety and health.

- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for incidents or "near misses," identifying corrective actions and ensuring they are tracked to completion.
