Job Title: Front Office Medical Assistant Job Description The Front Office Medical Assistant provides welcoming, efficient, and accurate support at the clinics front desk, ensuring an excellent patient experience from arrival through checkout. This role manages patient flow, coordinates front office activities with clinical staff, and handles registration, scheduling, and financial transactions while maintaining organized medical records and supporting patients in accessing needed care. The position is a full-time, MondayFriday day shift role, typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Responsibilities

- Greet and assist patients and visitors with warmth, professionalism, and a strong customer service focus.
- Oversee the waiting room experience, monitor patient flow, and keep patients informed of any delays or changes in scheduling.
- Organize and manage provider schedules to maximize efficiency and ensure accurate appointment booking.
- Accurately collect, verify, and update patient registration information, financial details, and essential health data.
- Perform intake-related processes, including document scanning, filing, and ongoing records maintenance.
- Handle financial transactions such as co-pays and insurance-related responsibilities with accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Answer incoming calls professionally, provide information, and route calls appropriately to staff and providers.
- Schedule appointments, manage follow-up visits, and assist with hospital follow-up coordination.

Qualifications

- Experience working in health care environments with direct patient interaction.
- Experience handling prior authorizations or insurance-related responsibilities.
- Comfort using electronic health record systems; experience with Athena is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, maintain records, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Medical assistant experience working alongside medical assistants and providers is beneficial.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or in a related field is preferred but not required for the front desk role.
- Familiarity with care coordination, including arranging interpreters, transportation, and prescription assistance.

Work Environment This role is based in a clinic front office setting with consistent patient-facing responsibilities. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing regular daytime hours. The environment is fast-paced and requires frequent interaction with patients, visitors, and clinical staff in person and by phone. You will work at a computer workstation using electronic health record systems, including Athena, and office equipment such as phones, scanners, and printers. Professional, neat attire is expected to reflect the clinics commitment to a welcoming and respectful atmosphere. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
