About this role
Job Title: CAD Drafter Job Description This role supports an innovative AI initiative focused on automating design engineering processes. Instead of producing manufacturing drawings directly, you will work with mechanical design data and 3D CAD models to help train next-generation AI models. You will play a key role in reviewing, organizing, and enhancing engineering data so that AI tools can better understand design intent, simulation results, and iterative improvements. Responsibilities
- Review, label, and annotate mechanical design data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability for AI model training.
- Work extensively with 3D CAD geometries and formats, including CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, and related CAD systems.
- Interpret and analyze engineering design changes, understanding the reasoning behind design decisions and their impact on performance and manufacturability.
- Collaborate on simulation methodologies and design iterations, helping to connect geometric models with simulation outcomes.
- Evaluate, benchmark, and augment existing design and simulation data sets to improve AI model performance and reliability.
- Generate new data and configurations as needed to support AI development and automated design workflows.
- Apply automation tools and AI-driven workflows to streamline processes, enhance data quality, and improve overall design engineering efficiency.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement by identifying opportunities to standardize data, refine workflows, and optimize the use of CAD and simulation tools.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, preferably in manufacturing-related environments.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design frameworks and principles, including how designs evolve through iterations.
- Proficiency in working with 3D CAD models and geometric data using tools such as CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software.
- Solid experience with drafting and CAD-based design documentation.
- Ability to interpret design changes and understand engineering decision-making in the context of performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Experience working with simulations and geometry analysis in support of engineering decisions.
- Comfort working with large sets of design data and maintaining high attention to detail when labeling and annotating information.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Candidates with more mechanical design experience (1020+ years) are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Experience with automation tools and AI-driven workflows is highly desired.
- Exposure to AI tools, data-driven engineering, and automated design concepts.
- Experience in process improvement, including identifying and implementing enhancements to design and data workflows.
- Familiarity with multiple CAD platforms and the ability to work with various file formats and geometries.
- Interest in contributing to next-generation AI models and advanced engineering technologies.
