Cad Drafter

Job Title: CAD Drafter Job Description This role supports an advanced AI initiative focused on automating design engineering processes. Instead of creating manufacturing designs directly, you will help train next-generation AI models by working extensively with mechanical design data and 3D CAD models. You will collaborate with engineering and AI teams to ensure design data is accurately reviewed, labeled, and prepared to drive intelligent, automated design workflows. Responsibilities

- Review, label, and annotate mechanical design data to ensure accuracy and consistency for AI model training.
- Work with 3D CAD geometries and formats such as CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, and related systems to manage and prepare design assets.
- Interpret design changes and understand the engineering decisions behind them to properly capture design intent in the data.
- Apply a strong understanding of simulation methodologies and design iterations to support robust AI training datasets.
- Evaluate, benchmark, and augment existing mechanical design and simulation data to improve AI model performance.
- Generate new design and geometric data sets as needed to support AI development and testing activities.
- Analyze CAD models, simulations, and geometric data to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Collaborate with AI and automation tools to refine processes and workflows that support automated design engineering.
- Leverage hands-on mechanical design experience from manufacturing-related environments to validate and contextualize data.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of data management, labeling standards, and documentation to enhance AI-driven workflows.

Essential Skills

- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in manufacturing-related environments.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design frameworks and principles.
- Proficiency in working with 3D CAD models and geometric data.
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools and formats such as CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar systems.
- Ability to interpret design changes and understand engineering decision-making processes.
- Solid understanding of simulation methodologies, design iterations, and geometry analysis.
- Experience working with CAD models and simulations in an engineering or manufacturing context.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with automation tools and AI-driven workflows is highly desired.
- Exposure to AI concepts, data labeling, and model training processes is beneficial.
- Background in process improvement, including identifying and implementing workflow enhancements.
- Comfort working with benchmarking, evaluation, and augmentation of engineering data sets.
- Candidates with experience (1020+ years) in mechanical design will also be considered.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when working with complex geometric and simulation data.

This is a Contract position based out of Bellevue, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
