Department : Quality Assurance

Position reports to : Senior Quality Manager

Position Summary:

The Quality Technician works with engineering and manufacturing to ensure products meet all applicable specifications. Further, the technician supports Operations and Customer Service in meeting business goals and customer expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Perform receiving, first-piece, in-process, final, source, and MRB inspections.

- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) and support completion and review of AS9102 FAI documentation.

- Conduct mechanical, dimensional, and visual inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, pin gauges, thread gauges, surface plates, optical equipment, and other precision inspection tools.

- Operate or assist with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspections and interpret CMM inspection results.

- Perform electrical and functional testing, including surge, hipot, continuity, resistance, and other bench tests.

- Use applicable electrical test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and test benches, as required by approved procedures.

- Inspect aviation components, assemblies, fans, blowers, motors, stators, and other electrical and mechanical products to verify conformity to engineering and customer requirements.

- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, specifications, routers, work instructions, acceptance test procedures, Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), and other technical instructions.

- Verify product conformity to approved design data, customer requirements, manufacturing instructions, AS9100 requirements, and applicable FAA regulations.

- Review manufacturing, repair, inspection, and test records for completeness, accuracy, traceability, and acceptability.

- Compile, summarize, record, and maintain inspection and test data in applicable electronic and paper systems.

- Identify, contain, segregate, document, and process nonconforming material through established NCR and MRB processes.

- Support evaluation of supplier, manufacturing, and customer-related nonconformances and participate in corrective action activities.

- Verify that measuring and test equipment is properly calibrated and suitable for the intended inspection or test.

- Maintain product identification, traceability, and inspection status throughout manufacturing and repair processes.

- Interface with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Supply Chain, customers, and regulatory source inspectors as required.

- Participate in root cause investigations, corrective actions, containment activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Recommend inspection, test, or process improvements based on inspection findings and quality-performance trends.

- Obtain and maintain DQR, inspection stamp, customer-specific certifications, or other qualifications as required.

- Follow AS9100, FAA-PMA, FAA Part 21, FAA Part 145, company quality-system, safety, and procedural requirements.

- Report quality metrics and inspection-related data to management as required.

- Perform other inspection and quality-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

- Aerospace/Aviation Manufacturing Experience.

- Experience working within an AS9100-certified quality management system.

- Knowledge of FAA regulations, including 14 CFR Part 21 and Part 145.

- CMM Experience.

- Blueprint Reading and GD&T Interpretation.

- FAI Experience (AS9102 preferred).

- NCR/MRB Experience.

- Mechanical Inspection Experience.

- Electrical Bench Inspection Experience.

- Surge Testing Experience.

- Hipot Testing Experience.

- Experience with Calibrated Inspection and Test Equipment.

- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, acceptance test procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.

- Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and gauges.

- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ERP/QMS systems.

- Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with aviation electric motors, fans, blowers, stators, rotors, or similar electromechanical products.

- Previous FAA-PMA manufacturing experience.

- Previous FAA Repair Station (Part 145) experience.

- DQR, DSQR, or customer source-inspection qualification.

- Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, Electronics, Aviation Maintenance, or a related field.

Physical Requirements:

- Continuous periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and phone.

- Must be able to occasionally lift 25 pounds at a time.

- Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands.
