About this role

Job Title: Engineering Technician Job Description The Engineering Technician assembles and wires electrical control boxes and electromechanical prototype units using electrical schematics and engineering drawings. This role focuses on hands-on electrical and mechanical assembly, point-to-point wiring, and integration of sensors, pumps, and other components into control systems. The technician works independently in an engineering and prototype environment while collaborating closely with electrical and mechanical engineers to identify issues, support design updates, and ensure high-quality, reliable assemblies for advanced data center-related equipment. Responsibilities

- Assemble electrical control boxes from electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Mount DIN rail and electrical components onto sheet-metal panels with precision and consistency.
- Perform point-to-point electrical wiring within control boxes and prototype units.
- Cut and strip wires, and install appropriate terminals and connectors according to specifications.
- Connect sensors, pumps, and other electromechanical components back to electrical boxes and control panels.
- Complete final electromechanical assembly within prototype units, ensuring proper fit, function, and safety.
- Review drawings and wiring diagrams to identify potential issues, ask clarifying questions, and support redline updates.
- Work independently on assigned builds while collaborating directly with electrical and mechanical engineers.
- Use standard hand tools safely and effectively during electrical and mechanical assembly tasks.
- Apply technical understanding to recognize mistakes or inconsistencies rather than simply following instructions.
- Support the engineering team by providing feedback from hands-on assembly work to improve designs and documentation.

Essential Skills

- Hands-on experience assembling electrical boxes, control panels, or electrical cabinets.
- Proven point-to-point wiring experience in control systems or similar applications.
- Ability to read and work confidently from electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Electromechanical assembly experience integrating electrical and mechanical components.
- Proficiency with standard hand tools, including screwdrivers, wire strippers, crimpers, and wrenches.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with electrical and mechanical engineers.
- Ability to work relatively independently in an engineering and prototype environment.
- Sufficient technical understanding to recognize mistakes or inconsistencies rather than simply following instructions.
- Several years of hands-on experience assembling and wiring electrical panels, boxes, cabinets, or electromechanical equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Mechanical assembly experience, including installing mechanical components and hardware.
- Experience installing threaded pipe, pumps, or sensors in electromechanical systems.
- Experience working with refrigeration systems.
- Torch brazing experience for refrigeration or fluid-handling applications.
- EPA 608 certification.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks; SolidWorks experience is a plus but not required, and the technician will not be responsible for designing products or creating CAD models.
- An associate degree in a technical field may be helpful but is not required.
- Recent bachelor's-level engineering graduates may be considered if they have substantial hands-on electrical assembly and wiring experience in addition to academic or CAD exposure.

Work Environment The role operates within an engineering team based in a warehouse environment focused on prototype and data center-related equipment. Work is primarily hands-on and performed at benches or assembly stations using standard hand tools and electromechanical components. The technician collaborates directly with electrical and mechanical engineers, contributing to an environment that values technical curiosity, open communication, and continuous improvement. The setting combines practical, shop-floor assembly conditions with close interaction with the engineering team, offering opportunities to work on advanced prototype systems rather than repetitive production work.
