Job Title: Junior Electrical Engineer Chiller Systems Job Description This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and development of electrical systems for advanced chiller applications used in datacenter and industrial environments. The Junior Electrical Engineer creates detailed electrical schematics, specifies components, and ensures that all designs comply with relevant electrical codes and datacenter standards. The position also supports panel fabrication, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning, providing a strong foundation for career growth in electrical engineering and HVAC-related systems. Responsibilities

- Design and develop electrical schematics for control panels and power panels supporting chiller systems.
- Specify electrical components including breakers, contactors, relays, PLCs, HMI interfaces, VFDs, and related hardware.
- Ensure proper load balancing, fault protection, and system redundancy in all electrical designs.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for control panel and power panel fabrication and installation.
- Verify compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC and IEC, as well as datacenter requirements.
- Develop and maintain detailed wiring diagrams and panel layouts for chiller control and power systems.
- Support panel testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities to ensure reliable system operation.
- Prepare complete electrical design packages, including schematics, panel layouts, and component specifications.
- Develop technical specifications and vendor evaluation reports to support procurement and vendor selection.
- Provide installation and commissioning support documentation for field teams and project stakeholders.
- Deliver final system performance validation reports to confirm that electrical systems meet design and operational criteria.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical designs with HVAC systems and overall project requirements.
- Communicate technical information clearly to internal teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure alignment and project success.

Essential Skills

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical design for industrial or HVAC systems.
- Hands-on experience with electrical engineering principles applied to panel layout and system design.
- Strong understanding of NEC and IEC standards and their application to industrial and datacenter environments.
- Ability to design and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
- Experience specifying electrical components such as breakers, contactors, relays, PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
- Familiarity with PLC programming and HMI interfaces in control system applications.
- Solid knowledge of load balancing, fault protection, and redundancy in electrical system design.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong coordination and collaboration skills for working with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with electrical design for HVAC and chiller systems in industrial or datacenter settings.
- Experience in developing complete electrical design packages, including schematics and component specifications.
- Ability to prepare technical specifications and vendor evaluation reports to support purchasing decisions.
- Experience supporting panel testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities in the field or factory.
- Attention to detail in documenting installation procedures, commissioning steps, and performance validation.
- Capability to work within structured processes and standards while contributing to continuous improvement.
- Interest in long-term career growth in electrical engineering, control systems, and HVAC-related applications.

Work Environment This is an onsite role in a professional engineering environment focused on advanced chiller and HVAC systems. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and vendor teams, using tools and technologies such as PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and standard electrical design software to develop and support control and power panels. The position begins under a 12-month statement of work with a clear pathway to full-time employment, offering paid time off, company holidays, and a standard benefits package. This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
