Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider Job Description
The Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) plays a crucial role within the hematology and oncology care team by delivering direct patient care, managing treatment, providing supportive care services, and supporting physicians throughout the continuum of cancer care. This role involves close collaboration with physicians, infusion staff, and clinical support teams to evaluate patients, manage treatment-related side effects, coordinate care, and enhance the overall patient experience. The provider will have the chance to practice autonomously while maintaining strong collaboration with physicians.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including history and physical examinations.
- Evaluate new patients, follow-up patients, and those undergoing active treatment.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment and supportive care plans.
- Monitor treatment response, disease progression, and ongoing care needs.
- Review laboratory, pathology, imaging, and diagnostic results.
- Evaluate and manage patients with malignant and benign hematologic conditions.
- Manage chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy treatment-related toxicities.
- Provide symptom management and supportive care.
- Participate in advanced care planning and survivorship care discussions.
- Support end-of-life care planning when appropriate.
- Assist physicians with inbasket management, triage support, medication management, and infusion support.
- Provide clinical recommendations and care coordination.
- Implement physician-directed treatment plans.
- Perform bone marrow biopsies following training and competency validation.
- Round on hospitalized patients as assigned.
- Prescribe and refill medications within scope of practice.
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and ancillary support services.
- Facilitate transitions of care and specialty referrals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care conferences.
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation in the EMR.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Support clinical protocol development.
- Maintain all licensure, certifications, and continuing education.
Essential Skills
- Active NP or PA license with DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Oncology and/or Hematology.
- Ability to independently evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Experience ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic studies.
- Comfortable managing complex and chronic disease states.
- Strong collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- National Certification (ANP, FNP, GNP, or equivalent) or NCCPA Certification.
- Active Oregon APRN License or PA License (or ability to obtain prior to start).
- Strong EMR and computer proficiency.
Work Environment
The position is based in Corvallis, OR, with a primarily weekday clinic schedule. It includes one outpatient 24-hour holiday call shift annually and hospital rounding responsibilities as assigned. The role may occasionally require coverage at the Oregon Coast clinic location.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $131684.00 - $181796.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
