Mental Health and SUD Therapist
Role:
The Mental Health and SUD Therapist will provide comprehensive therapeutic services to children and families who are at risk for, show early signs of, or have been diagnosed with a mental illness, including a serious emotional disturbance (SED1). This role will promote social-emotional development and address behavioral health needs among children and their families. This role is integral to promoting mental health and well-being and facilitating positive changes in the lives of the children and families that are served. The therapist will provide age-appropriate screening, assessment, and diagnostic services for those served, including trauma-informed and evidence-based interventions with program fidelity.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough age-appropriate assessments of clients' mental health needs and develop individualized treatment plans to promote social-emotional development.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques, with fidelity.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with organizational, ACF, and legal standards.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, social workers, and community resources to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and professional development opportunities to enhance service delivery and professional growth.
- Educate families with children about mental health issues, treatment options, and available community resources.
- Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality in all client interactions and maintain a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions and make adjustments to treatment plans.
- Stay informed about current trends and advancements in the field of therapy and mental health services.
- Support Crittenton Centers mission and values by actively contributing to a positive and collaborative workplace culture.
- Follow up with clients and agencies as appropriate, per treatment needs.
- Document client data accurately and completely, in accordance with Crittenton Center and ACF project documentation guidelines.
- Work with grant staff to achieve and maintain client caseloads.
- Participate in ACF and Crittenton Center training, community events, and other project activities as assigned.
- Ensure adherence to and the promotion of ACF priorities.
- Maintain client and employee confidentiality, abiding by all state and federal confidentiality expectations, including those established by HIPAA and Federal Substance Abuse Confidentiality Law (42 CFR Part 2).
- Contribute to the overall success of the grant by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications for Position:
Position requires a master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field, licensure, (or in the process of obtaining licensure) and a minimum of two years of experience.
Reports to: Chief Program Officer for Clinical Services
Personal Qualities:
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; detail oriented.
Amount of Travel & Other Special Conditions:
Valid Iowa driver’s license, insurance coverage, and have an automobile. Typical hours Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; must be able and willing to work in non-traditional environments (classrooms, community locations); may include some nights and weekends.
