Job Title: EWIS Engineer Job Description The EWIS Engineer designs and develops wiring harnesses and electrical interconnect systems for autonomous and maritime platforms. This role supports system integration of electrical components, maintains detailed design documentation, and contributes to product development throughout the project lifecycle. The engineer actively participates in design reviews, prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable, high-quality electrical systems. Responsibilities
- Design and develop wiring harnesses and electrical interconnect systems (EWIS) for autonomous and maritime platforms.
- Create and maintain electrical schematics and harness designs using CAD tools such as Zuken E3, EPLAN, or similar software.
- Support system integration of electrical components, ensuring proper routing, connectivity, and overall system functionality.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to support product development across the full project lifecycle.
- Manage, update, and organize design documentation within PLM tools such as Teamcenter and Windchill.
- Assist with prototype builds of electrical systems and wiring harnesses, working hands-on as needed.
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems and harnesses to identify and resolve integration or performance issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure harness designs meet platform, safety, and performance requirements.
- Apply best practices in EWIS design to support scalability, reliability, and ease of manufacturing and maintenance.
Essential Skills
- 45 years of experience working with wiring harness design and electrical interconnect systems (EWIS).
- Proven experience with harness design and system integration for complex electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience creating electrical schematics and harness designs using CAD tools such as Zuken E3, EPLAN, or comparable software.
- Experience using PLM tools such as Teamcenter and Windchill to manage and maintain design documentation.
- Bachelors degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, though related degrees such as Mechanical Engineering are also considered.
- Background in industries such as automotive, maritime, aerospace, or defense, with exposure to harness and integration work.
- Ability to support prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and wiring harnesses.
- Strong understanding of electrical routing, connectivity, and system-level functionality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in innovative automotive environments such as electric vehicle manufacturers or automotive suppliers.
- Industry exposure to maritime, aerospace, or defense platforms and their electrical integration requirements.
- Comfort working in fast-growing, dynamic organizations with evolving products and processes.
- Ability to participate effectively in design reviews and communicate technical concepts clearly to multidisciplinary teams.
- Interest in contributing to an exciting company with significant growth potential and future stock incentives when hired directly.
Work Environment This is a fully onsite role based in Austin, with no remote or hybrid options. The position involves working in a hands-on engineering environment focused on autonomous and maritime platforms, with regular collaboration across engineering and operations teams. Occasional travel to a Los Angeles site may be required in the future to support integration activities or project needs. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $145000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
