ERM is seeking a Consulting Senior Associate, Remediation and Demolition Site Leader to join our Site Investigation and Remediation (SIR) team in Indianapolis, Indiana. In this highly visible field leadership role, you'll help deliver remediation, construction, decommissioning, decontamination, and demolition (DDD) projects that protect people, communities, and the environment. Working closely with project managers, construction managers, demolition managers, and field safety professionals, you'll help plan and execute complex field operations, oversee contractors, and lead critical health and safety activities on-site. What You'll Bring:

Required

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering field, preferably chemical, civil, or structural engineering, with at least 1 year of project experience, or equivalent experience.
- Alternatively, a degree in geology, environmental science, occupational health, safety, or industrial hygiene will be considered, or equivalent experience.
- Strong initiative, problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and navigate uncertain or ambiguous project requirements and requests.
- Excellent leadership, communication, writing, and organizational skills.
- Experience in heavy construction, demolition, or remediation-specific project execution and health and safety leadership.
- Strong commitment to safety, including implementing strict Health and Safety protocols.
- Ability to pass a background and drug screen.
- Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
- Willingness to travel throughout and outside the United States. Applicants should anticipate spending approximately 75% of their time in the field on three-week rotations with typically one-week breaks.

Preferred

- Experience supporting remediation, construction, decommissioning, decontamination, and demolition (DDD) projects.
- Familiarity with contractor oversight, field safety leadership, and environmental site investigation activities.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary project teams within consulting, construction, remediation, or environmental services environments.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with SIR field projects, including on-site task management, subcontractor oversight, and safety oversight.
- Review contractor submittals, including Requests for Information (RFIs), contract clarifications, contract-required submittals, change order requests, and other project documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Assist with site investigation activities to identify subsurface and building conditions and support sampling efforts to determine the presence of hazardous materials requiring special handling during remediation and demolition.
- Serve as a Field Safety Officer during site work by: Preparing site-specific Health & Safety Plans. Monitoring conformance with safety and emergency procedures. Conducting daily safety briefings. Interacting with contractors and ERM and client project teams. Maintaining site safety records.
- Work with on-site full-time and part-time personnel to evaluate subcontractor performance and schedules while supporting the Site Lead and Project Manager in negotiating and resolving change order requests.
- Communicate with field team leaders and Project Managers to assess project conformance with plans and specifications and ensure required contract clarifications and interpretations are implemented.
- Support Project Managers in identifying and tracking upcoming management requirements, meeting with clients to discuss future work opportunities, and assisting with business development activities, including proposal preparation, interviews, and project contracting.
- Conduct behavior-based safety observations and coordinate internal Event Communication System activities.
- Investigate and correct Incidents & Near Misses.
- Maintain project and safety records.
- Complete and maintain required training, including: ERM Field Safety Officer Training Modules 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Supervisor CPR/First Aid Bloodborne Pathogens Confined Space and Excavation Awareness Emergency Preparedness Hazard Recognition and Job Hazard Analysis Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis
