GEICO is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join our Legal Department as a Senior Legal Assistant, Commercial Contracts who will report to the Director – Assistant General Counsel. This role supports the Commercial Contracting Team by managing routine and low-risk contract requests, maintaining contract data and reporting, and providing operational support to business partners and management.
The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, strong organizational and analytical skills, clear communication, and the ability to manage competing priorities accurately and efficiently.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide operational support for commercial contracting activities, including:
- Review and process nondisclosure agreements (NDAs), including quality assurance of NDA redlines.
- Assist in reviewing and processing repetitive, low-risk vendor agreements that include standard verification, quality assurance of redlines, and/or minimal revisions.
- Manage low risk, time sensitive contract requests from intake through completion.
- Validate business-provided data and revise contract schedules to resolve errors or omissions.
- Perform document comparisons, quality checks, and finalization of agreements.
- Manage one-off and rush requests by routing requestors to the appropriate team member or subject matter expert.
- Close out, maintain, audit, and validate contract lifecycle management (CLM) records to ensure data integrity and identify improvement opportunities.
- Prepare and compile reports to support operational review and analysis.
- Assess team workload capacity, triage workload-balancing requests, and coordinate incoming work assignments.
- Retrieve previously executed agreements and route requestor inquiries to the appropriate subject matter experts.
- Coordinate follow-up communications with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and vendors.
- Coordinate bulk agreement generation, merges, and distribution through PowerForms and related tools.
- Provide Microsoft Office ( e.g. , Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) support, including formatting, schedule and exhibit preparation, document cleanup, section numbering, and cross-reference validation.
- Provide calendar support for executive meetings and deal negotiations.
- Maintain accurate records of work in progress and provide status updates to management.
- Communicate clear, timely status updates to business partners and key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7+ years of legal assistant experience, or an equivalent combination of work experience, training, military experience, and education.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong research skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to process highly confidential/sensitive data and maintain discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with contract lifecycle management systems.
- Experience in the insurance industry.
Work Location: Hybrid, with three days per week in either the Bethesda, MD, or New York, NY office.
Annual Salary
$23.91 - $37.65
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
