Location: HMAS Stirling, Garden Island, WA

Join our team supporting Australia’s SSN nuclear submarine training capability. We are seeking an experienced technical leader to oversee the sustainment, maintenance, and operational readiness of complex training support systems, simulator environments, and associated technical infrastructure.

As the Training-System Support Lead, you’ll lead the development, management and sustainment of training system support capability across shore-based training environments and U.S. and Sovereign platforms. Working closely with program stakeholders, you will ensure technical activities are planned, executed, monitored, and continuously improved to meet customer and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

* Lead and coordinate specialist maintenance and technical resources across the sustainment lifecycle.
* Support the management and development of the Training Support System team, including tasking, processes, skills and delivery of contracted outcomes.
* Execute Maintenance Manager responsibilities in accordance with the LMA Maintenance Support Policy.
* Ensure maintenance activities and approved modifications are completed to authorised documentation and technical directives.
* Drive team training, workplace assessment, qualifications and professional development.
* Maintain Training Support Equipment to approved standards and specifications.
* Lead the delivery of technical support, maintenance, and sustainment activities for training support systems and associated infrastructure.
* Manage system availability, reliability, and operational readiness to meet customer and program requirements.
* Oversee maintenance planning, asset management, configuration control, and technical documentation.
* Coordinate the resolution of complex technical issues with engineering teams, stakeholders, and customers.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system performance, supportability, and service delivery.

What you’ll bring

You are an experienced systems support, maintenance, or technical operations leader who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and leading multidisciplinary teams:

* Relevant tertiary, technical or trade qualification in engineering, engineering technology, electronics, information technology, maintenance/asset management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
* Experience leading technical teams in maintenance, sustainment or operational support environments.
* Experience in asset and maintenance management.
* Experience with simulator, electronics or comparable technical operations.
* Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.

Desired Skills

* Experience in Defence
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
* Distributed computer network maintenance experience.
* Calibration-controlled equipment experience.
* Workplace training and assessment experience.
* Experience with specialised Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
