Job Statement

Join the Genesis of a new growth story in West Australian Gold.

Are you ready to be part of a dynamic and ambitious team at a growing ASX-listed gold house? At Genesis, we're dedicated to realising our vision of becoming The Trusted Australian Gold Miner, delivering high-quality, progressive operations with a target of +500koz annually. Genesis offers unparalleled opportunities for growth and innovation in the prolific Leonora and Laverton region of WA.

As Genesis Minerals continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced GIS Specialist to play a key role in shaping how we use spatial data, technology and insights across our organisation. This role reports into the Head of Environment and Sustainability and is being offered on a 5:2 roster located in our Perth CBD office.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of our geospatial direction, developing and delivering a strategy that connects our sites, teams and data while setting the standards, systems and ways of working that will support our future growth.

You’ll bring a strategic mindset, paired with a practical, hands-on approach. From identifying opportunities to improve existing data, processes and technology, to defining the tools, architecture and standards needed for the future, you’ll help turn our current challenges into opportunities for smarter, more connected and efficient ways of working.

If you’re passionate about GIS and want to make a meaningful impact by building a modern, scalable geospatial capability from the ground up, this is a role where you can genuinely shape what comes next.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Develop and implement the organisations geospatial strategy

·       Lead the development and implementation of geospatial governance frameworks including standards, principles, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality of GIS data

·       Collaborate with stakeholders from multiple departments to identify and remediate data, process, and technology challenges within the GIS environment, developing a unified and efficient approach for GIS data management, storage, integration, and usage across the organisation.

·       Define and maintain a governance framework for GIS data, including stewardship, access controls, and lifecycle management

·       Evaluate and recommend GIS tools, platforms, and licensing arrangements to optimize performance, cost-effectiveness, and suitability for evolving business requirements

·       Provide expert input into the design and evolution of the company’s GIS technology architecture, ensuring robustness, flexibility, and alignment with operational goals

·       Facilitate cross-functional training, workshops, and support to drive adoption of new GIS processes and technologies

·       Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of geospatial programs and projects, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and timelines and aligned to budgetary commitments.

About You:

You’re an experienced GIS professional who combines strong technical expertise with strategic thinking and a practical, solutions-focused approach. With extensive experience in spatial data management within the mining and exploration industry, you have a proven ability to lead, influence and deliver GIS solutions across complex, enterprise environments.

You’ll bring:

- Proven experience leading and managing enterprise GIS environments, spatial databases and cross-functional projects
- Advanced capability across ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server and Portal for ArcGIS
- Strong technical skills in SQL, Python, Power BI, dashboards, MS Access, cartography and web mapping, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective spatial solutions
- Experience developing and implementing GIS data governance frameworks, standards and procedures, including data and repository consolidation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to identify root causes, assess complex challenges and develop practical, sustainable solutions
- A collaborative and proactive approach, with the confidence to work across teams, influence stakeholders and help shape the future direction of an organisation’s geospatial capability

Most importantly, you’re someone who can see both the big picture and the detail, understanding how people, data, processes and technology need to work together to build a fit-for-purpose GIS capability that supports the organisation today and into the future.
