As a Product Definition Engineer (expert application engineer), you will combine deep technical expertise with customer insight to define tomorrow’s Automotive High-Voltage SiC Chip and Discrete Products for traction inverters. You will have a focus on advanced SiC Chip Embedding, our EndoPackTM Cell portfolio, for traction inverter, a revolutionary new technology to build a power module.

You will have the joy to directly work together with our customer’s system design experts, visiting them frequently.

At the intersection of customers, system engineering, and product development, you will influence future product concepts, translate application needs into clear requirements, and demonstrate the value of innovative solutions at system level.

Your role Key responsibilities in your new role

- Take ownership of product requirements for next-generation automotive high-voltage SiC products, translating customer needs, application insights, and system assumptions into a clear direction for development
- Serve as a trusted technical expert interface to customers’ expert engineers throughout the development of their system design, supporting RFQs and RFIs, aligning requirements and needs with them, and supporting them with the design-in of your products
- Internally you partner with concept, technology, and product-development experts to assess feasibility, review development documentation, and turn complex trade-offs into innovative, customer-relevant product concepts
- Play a key role in product development projects , collaborating across product and technology development, quality, and other global functions to bring new solutions from concept to market
- Lead benchmarking and system-level performance studies , including competitive analyses and application investigations, to make the benefits of distinctive product features tangible for customers
- Validate functional prototypes and product models in customer applications, contribute to application FMEAs, and guide colleagues in evaluating functionality and certification against relevant standards

Your profile Qualifications and skills to help you succeed

- University degree in a relevant technical discipline with a standard program duration of more than four years for example Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or Physics
- Several years of relevant professional experience in Application engineering, Technical Marketing, e.g. as a system development engineer, or an application engineer in a power semiconductor company
- Specific expertise in automotive traction inverter systems, power semiconductors and cross-function project work
- Gathered experience in customer centric thinking, and acting across multiple cultures, managing complex technical customer communication during an early design-in phase of new power products, and new technologies. Acted as passionate promoter of specific benefits of new products having the customer perspective in mind
- Advanced communication skills combined with a strong team-player and customer-first mindset
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English,  clear, convincing, and effective across customer and internal audiences
