About this role
- Assist in setting up operating room with surgical instruments, equipments and sterile linens according to type of surgery to be performed which includes obtaining, arranging, testing of equipment, supplies and accessories as per schedules.
- To carry out pre-op preparation i.e. cleaning, shaving, and disinfecting of operative site as per requirements of surgeon.
- Daily check whether all equipments in the OT are in working condition, replace missing or damaged equipment and /or send to Biomedical Department after making entry in the books informing OT Incharge.
- To assist anesthetist/surgeon/nursing staff in preparing the patients for the procedure, positioning them in a prescribed manner, as per surgery/surgeon and operate the C-Arm where it is required.
- Help in transportation of patients to operating rooms and sssist in moving patient into wheeled stretcher to ICU/recovery room after operation.
- To help in circulating for cases whenever the need arises for short period.
- Should make themselves available after duty hours for any kind of emergency case if required.
- To assist in cleanup and disinfection of operating theater and OT equipments following surgery: includes disposal of used supplies and dispatching instruments for sterilization.
- To personally clean and change all tubing/linen on anesthesia machine after the cases are done or/and at the end of the day.
- To check all anesthesia trolley/crash cart for update and validity of drugs every Saturday or when time permits. (Mandatory weekly)
- Understanding the functioning of every equipment in the OT. (‘C’ Arm, Microscope and Laparascopic set, Cautery, OT table, Suction, Syringe Pumps, etc)
- To check cylinder supplies (oxygen, nitrous) as per requirements of OT cases.
- Keep proper stock inventory.
- Proper documentation
