About this role
### Your Purpose
As a Wine Butler, you will provide a knowledgeable, professional and attentive wine service, helping guests discover and select wines according to their preferences. You will deliver exceptional service at the Helios Wine Bar, sharing your knowledge and passion for wine while creating memorable guest experiences. You will also support wine tastings and activities, ensuring the wine service area is always presented and operated to the highest standards.
### Your Impact
You will contribute to guest satisfaction and onboard revenue by providing expert recommendations, suggesting food and wine pairings, and confidently upselling when appropriate. You will support the Wine Specialist with wine management, displays, stock levels and daily operations, while ensuring that all service, hygiene and safety standards are consistently followed. Through your wine knowledge and genuine customer focus, you will help create an engaging and high-quality wine experience for our guests.
### Your Journey So Far
To excel in this role, you need to have: •WSET Level 2 or similar qualification •Previous experience in wine service, hospitality, F&B or a similar customer-facing role •Knowledge of food and wine pairing •Understanding of Old World and New World wine-producing countries •Knowledge of sparkling, sweet and fortified wines •Understanding of viticulture and vinification •Experience with wine tasting and guest recommendations is an advantage •Previous cruise ship experience is preferred
### Your Essentials
To qualify for this position, you need to have: •Fluent spoken and written English •Additional European languages are considered an advantage •Excellent customer service and communication skills •Ability to confidently recommend wines and suggest food pairings •Strong sales mindset with the ability to upsell appropriately •Ability to work independently and as part of a team •Good knowledge of wine products and willingness to continuously develop wine expertise •Ability to use wine service equipment safely and responsibly •Strong attention to detail and organizational skills •Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and hygiene
