The Technical Operator is responsible for the technical assessment, testing, processing and preparation of IT equipment entering the Lenovo Value Recovery operation. The role ensures that returned, refurbished and end-of-life equipment is accurately assessed, securely processed and prepared for its next stage in the value-recovery lifecycle. Working within a fast-paced operational environment, the Technical Operator will identify the condition and functionality of equipment, carry out technical diagnostics, record accurate results and ensure equipment is processed in accordance with Lenovo's quality, security, environmental and operational standards. The role requires a strong attention to detail, a practical approach to technical problem-solving and the ability to work effectively while maintaining agreed productivity and quality targets.

Key Responsibilities

- Receive, inspect, and assess IT and networking equipment for functionality and condition.
- Perform visual, diagnostic, and functional testing to identify faults and defects.
- Classify and grade equipment in line with Lenovo Value Recovery standards.
- Execute secure data handling and data-erasure processes in accordance with company procedures.
- Refurbish, repair, upgrade, and prepare devices for reuse, resale, or recycling.
- Install and replace approved hardware components, including memory and storage devices.
- Maintain accurate asset records, test results, inventory documentation, and traceability.
- Adhere to Lenovo quality, compliance, health and safety, and data security standards.

Requirements:

- Previous experience in IT, electronics, hardware repair, refurbishment, or a similar technical environment.
- Good knowledge of computer hardware and basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve common hardware and software issues.
- Comfortable using computers, diagnostic tools, and IT systems.
- Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to follow technical procedures, work instructions, and established processes.
- Understanding of data security principles and the secure handling of IT assets.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet quality and productivity targets while working independently and as part of a team.
