Customer Tax Compliance Officer

We are looking for a new colleague whose primary responsibility is to safeguard ING NL from Customer Tax Compliance risks. It concerns a full-time position located in the Hub in Bratislava. Your key activities will include monitoring the compliance with the regulations of Financial Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), Common Reporting Standard (CRS), US withholding tax & information reporting (including Qualified Intermediary (QI). Topics also in scope are Customer Tax Integrity (CTI), including CESOP, MDR and DAC6/7, and Spanish tax law.

The team
You would be joining the Advisory & Control team of the Compliance ING NL department which is located in Amsterdam, while working remotely from Bratislava. This team currently exists of 15 Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Specialists and Customer Tax Compliance Specialists.

Roles and responsibilities
Your main roles and responsibilities are to:

- Maintain expertise and in-depth subject knowledge and understanding of good practice and procedures of the aforementioned regulations;
- Act as subject matter expert, including as a local Compliance/1LoD escalation point and advising and assessing on FATCA/CRS/USW assessments of a products;
- Review RT NL and WB NL FATCA and CRS reportable information prior to filing;
- Ensure that local regulatory updates and new local regulations are monitored and communicated, including impact analysis;
- Review, challenge and provide input to local ING NL (WB and Retail) processes, procedures, work instructions, and guidance documents and ensure alignment with ING Policies and global standards;
- Advise, approve, monitor and follow-up on open audit items, issues, events, (one off) waivers, deviations and expert advice conditions;
- Advise 1st Line/ODCR on the risk and control framework, including the RAC process (e.g. assess risk applicability, determine inherent and residual risk levels, assess control applicability and perform gap analyses) to ensure compliance and effective risk management;
- Identify key areas for improvement and provide support to implement good practice;
- Participate in relevant projects;
- Providing input to the FCC QA team and taking action on QA outcomes;
- Conducting and supporting second-line monitoring activities;
- Develop and maintain relationships with management and other relevant stakeholders.
- Display interest in all aspects of FCC compliance. Broaden your knowledge in this field and participate in KYC/FEC activities and projects.

- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Excellent communication skills and fluent in English;
- Focus and attention to detail;
- Profound analytical thinking;
- Ability to make sound decisions and judgments in a timely manner;
- Experience with all tax transparency regulations (FATCA, QI, CRS and US withholding);
- Background in financial services;
- Excellent knowledge of compliance concepts, with 3-6 years of experience in FATCA/CRS/USW and/or the KYC/FEC domain;
- An academic degree in a relevant discipline, preferably in (tax) law or (fiscal) economics;
- Strong personality, thoroughgoing and hands-on, with the ability and eagerness to learn;
- Strong stakeholder management skills regarding content, expectations, quality and timelines;
- Display an independent stance and the ability to take bold decisions;
- Organized, with the ability to meet tight deadlines;
- Knowledge of ING NL processes is a plus.
