Humana's Group Benefit Sales organization supports the evolving needs of members through a portfolio of commercial dental, vision, life, and disability products. This internship offers meaningful exposure to the health and insurance industry while providing opportunities to develop analytical, relationship management, and business development skills.

As a Group Benefits Sales & Account Management Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting teams focused on new business growth and client retention. You will work alongside experienced sales and account management professionals, helping drive strategic initiatives, build client pipelines, and support the delivery of exceptional customer experience.

- Gain hands-on experience supporting Sales and Account Management teams while learning how broker, employer group, and client relationships are developed, maintained, and strengthened.

- Participate in broker and client meetings, both in person and virtually, to gain hands-on industry experience

- Support business development and retention initiatives by assisting with prospect pipeline management, customer analysis, and account planning activities.

- Learn about Humana's Group Benefits product portfolio and collaborate with cross-functional partners across Sales, Account Management, Underwriting, Marketing, Operations, and other business functions to understand how strategic objectives are achieved.

- Utilize CRM systems, reporting tools, analytics platforms, and emerging AI solutions to organize information, analyze data, and support sales and retention activities.

- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and business insights that help drive decision-making and improve customer outcomes.

- Develop an understanding of both new business sales strategies and client retention efforts within the employee benefits industry.

- Participate in mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities with sales leaders, account executives, and business professionals across the organization.

- Collaborate with fellow interns on a capstone project focused on innovation, problem-solving, and teamwork, culminating in a presentation to business leaders and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

- Must be a current full-time undergraduate or graduate student with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028.

- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Insurance & Risk Management, Marketing, or related field.

- Must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, for 12 weeks  from May 24 – August 13, 2027

- Must be available to work in-person in Louisville, KY for 2-3 days in the office per week for the duration of the internship

- Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in Group Sales Benefits.

- Must not require sponsorship to work in the United States now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications

- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

- Demonstrated interest in Sales, Account Management, Employee Benefits, Insurance, Healthcare, or related business functions.

- Previous internship, leadership, customer service, sales, or campus involvement experience.

- Goal-oriented mindset with a passion for solving business challenges and delivering value.

- Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently while contributing within a collaborative team environment.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

- Interest in client-facing work and a desire to contribute to business development and customer retention initiatives.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$37,440 - $96,800 per year
