Construction Engineer Job Description
The Construction Engineer (CE) acts as the owner’s eyes and voice on the field. The role balances proactive project‑management, rigorous quality inspection, and sound technical judgment to protect the owner’s interests, identify problems early, maintain project control, and produce reliable documentation. The CE works closely with contractors, designers, and internal stakeholders to ensure schedule, cost, quality, and risk targets are met.
Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Project Management or Construction Engineering/Management or equivalent experience in Construction Engineering
* Construction engineering or field inspection experience on commercial/industrial projects.
* Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
* Proficient in MS Office, Project Management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project), and document control tools.
* Ability to read and interpret codes (IBC, NFPA, etc.).
Desired Skills
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability.
* Effective oral and written communication.
* Comfortable presenting to senior owners.
* Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
* Proactive “risk‑first” mindset – asks “What could hurt the project in the next 30‑60 days?”
* Balanced stakeholder approach – fair, technically competent, and consistent.
* High integrity and independence; able to push back on contractors when needed.
* Commitment to continuous improvement – contributes to checklists, lessons learned, and team training.
* Federal facility procedure experience.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $70500.00 - $130900.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
