Crescent City Physicians, Inc. is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physician to provide comprehensive rehabilitation and musculoskeletal care to patients across a broad spectrum of conditions. This physician will play a key role in helping patients maximize function, improve quality of life, and achieve their recovery goals through evidence-based evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination.
Position Summary
The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physician provides high-quality medical care and treatment to patients, including routine examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions. The physician collaborates closely with interdisciplinary clinical teams, provides medical consultation and supervision, and promotes exceptional patient outcomes through compassionate, accessible, and efficient care.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with rehabilitation, neurological, musculoskeletal, and functional impairments.
- Develop individualized treatment plans focused on restoring function and improving quality of life.
- Coordinate care with specialists, therapists, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Respond to patient calls, messages, and follow-up needs in a timely manner.
- Complete patient encounters and maintain accurate medical documentation.
- Identify and appropriately report signs of abuse or neglect in accordance with organizational policies.
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies following established protocols.
Patient Access
- Participate in an equitable physician call schedule.
- Maintain appointment availability consistent with established provider templates and patient access standards.
- Support timely access to care and continuity of treatment.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all safety, infection prevention, quality improvement, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement standard and transmission-based precautions during patient care.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional clinical environment.
- Report safety concerns, hazards, or compliance issues promptly.
Leadership Responsibilities (If Serving as Medical Director)
- Support provider compliance with patient access, quality, and service standards.
- Communicate provider concerns and operational recommendations to leadership.
- Participate in provider evaluations, performance reviews, and professional development discussions.
- Assist with provider scheduling, call coverage, and workforce planning.
Qualifications
Education
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency Program.
Experience
- Successful completion of residency training required.
- Fellowship training in Pain Management, Sports Medicine, Brain Injury Medicine, Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, or Neurorehabilitation is preferred but not required.
Licensure & Certifications
- Current or eligible Louisiana Medical License through the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, if applicable.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
- Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, and clinical documentation requirements.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and healthcare technology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, safety, quality improvement, and clinical excellence.
