About this role

Job Description

Just imagine scaling technology to bring new, shiny metalized LEGO elements to LEGO fans all over the world. Then make it real.

About the role

As our Process Manager (Specialist) - Coating Expert, you'll serve as the lead process specialist for Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) processes, ensuring a high level of process understanding and enabling a reliable and efficient manufacturing process.

You'll work closely with specialists and operators to explore the limits of the technology, expand process capability, and expand its use across the LEGO Group.

This is an opportunity to help refine and globalize a new manufacturing process that creates a shiny metallic decorative effect on LEGO® products.

You may have gained your experience through working with PVD, CVD,  thin-film technologies, or similar coating and surface engineering processes where you've developed, optimized, or industrialized manufacturing technologies. You'll combine scientific thinking with practical process development to establish a strong foundation for future production applications.

Required Qualifications

- Completed a Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, or Process Engineering
- Managed industrial-scale coating, deposition, or surface treatment processes
- Defined critical process parameters and translated them into stable manufacturing performance
- Led process development, industrialization, or technology transfer initiatives
- Delivered technical recommendations based on structured experimentation and process data
- Communicated technical topics clearly to a broad range of stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

- Performed quality evaluation and characterization of surface coatings
- Applied Six Sigma methodologies to process optimization and problem solving

What you'll build

- Lead specialist knowledge for PVD process standardization and industrialization
- Explore process limits and identify opportunities to expand the technology's application
- Develop process understanding, standards, and documentation for global use
- Support the transition of a developing technology into reliable production
- Define critical process parameters and quality requirements
- Collaborate with specialists and operators to improve process capability and performance
- Help establish the foundation for scaling and globalizing a new coating technology
- Support exploration and use of similar technologies in the future

If you've worked in a role where you've developed, optimized, or industrialized coating, thin-film, or deposition technologies, you'll feel at home here. What matters most is your ability to connect process parameters to manufacturing outcomes and translate technical findings into practical solutions.

Life on the team

You'll join Process Foundation in Billund, a team focused on developing and safeguarding future processing technologies for the LEGO Group.

We work closely together through regular collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a hybrid working rhythm. You'll have the opportunity to learn from specialists across multiple disciplines while contributing to a technology area that's still evolving. Curiosity, adaptability, clear communication, and a scientific approach to problem-solving are important for success in the team.

What success looks like

Success means becoming the go-to specialist for PVD technology, building a deep understanding of the process window and creating the standards needed for reliable, global manufacturing. Over the coming months, you'll help shape how this emerging technology is implemented, scaled, and adopted globally. You'll work closely with operators, process specialists, product development teams, manufacturing colleagues, and equipment suppliers to establish a robust and efficient production capability.

This role is based out of Billund, Denmark. Please note that relocation support is not offered for this role.
