About this role
Description
The Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) Sustainability team seeks a Sustainability Manager to own sustainability strategy and program delivery across Amazon's AMER corporate real estate portfolio. You'll be the regional voice and trusted advisor for sustainability — the person GREF teams and Amazonians turn to for guidance on how our office buildings can operate more sustainably. From carbon reduction and waste diversion to water conservation and sustainable design, you'll translate global sustainability commitments into on-the-ground results across hundreds of buildings. If you want to own a portfolio-wide sustainability agenda and see your work drive measurable environmental impact at scale, this is the role.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as the regional sustainability owner and trusted advisor across GREF — the go-to resource for portfolio managers, design and construction teams, facilities management, and Amazonians on sustainability matters in the corporate office portfolio
- Run sustainability programs end-to-end, from defining goals and milestones through tracking progress, clearing blockers, and communicating outcomes to leadership
- Develop and deliver regional sustainability plans in partnership with leasing, design, construction, and operations teams — translating global strategy into regional execution across carbon, waste, water, and resource reduction programs
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including landlords, developers, and third-party service providers) to ensure sustainability priorities are integrated into business decisions
- Lead regional sustainability pilots, measure results, and scale successful approaches across the portfolio
- Contribute to annual planning cycles with data-driven proposals for regional sustainability projects and resourcing needs
A day in the life
You'll spend your time at the intersection of strategy and execution — one day you might be reviewing sustainability design standards for a new workspace, the next you're working with operations teams to identify areas of waste reduction improvements across the region, and the next you're aligning with landlords on green lease requirements. You'll partner with portfolio managers, design and construction teams, facilities management, and third-party service providers to embed sustainability into every stage of a workplace building's lifecycle. No two weeks look the same, and the work you do will directly impact Amazon's sustainability commitments at scale.
You'll work closely with global sustainability colleagues and a cross-functional team of specialists, engineers, and program managers, but you'll be expected to drive your programs independently — from defining the approach through delivering results.
