Senior Facilities Manager - JLL

What this job involves: JLL is seeking a Senior Facilities Manager to provide leadership and operational oversight across a geographically dispersed portfolio of approximately 16 facilities throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan region. This role will serve as a senior facilities leader within the portfolio, responsible for the performance of assigned facilities and the direct leadership of Facilities Managers. The Senior Facilities Manager will translate numerous competing operational demands into clear priorities, establish consistent operating practices, drive accountability, and provide senior leadership with concise assessments of facility conditions, operational risks and required decisions. The successful candidate will operate effectively above the individual work-order level while maintaining sufficient knowledge of facility conditions and operational activity to make informed decisions. This position requires a proactive leader who can lead through others, anticipate risk, resolve issues at the appropriate level and escalate material business concerns to the IFM Director.

What your day-to-day will look like:

- Maintain operational accountability for approximately 16 facilities across DC, Maryland, and Virginia, ensuring awareness of facility conditions, risks, vendor performance, and work-order metrics.
- Balance and prioritize competing demands including work orders, incidents, projects, client requests, preventive maintenance, and operational initiatives across the portfolio.
- Lead response and recovery efforts for significant facility incidents and business disruptions while ensuring proper documentation, inspections, compliance, and operational records.
- Identify recurring operational problems and implement sustainable corrective solutions instead of relying on repeated reactive interventions.
- Directly manage, coach, and develop assigned Facilities Managers, setting clear performance expectations while delegating effectively and maintaining appropriate oversight rather than personally handling every task.
- Serve as primary escalation point for Facilities Managers, resolve issues at appropriate levels, and differentiate urgent matters from business-critical priorities when elevating risks to the IFM Director.
- Build trusted relationships across client leadership, landlords, vendors, and functional partners; translate complex facilities issues into concise, business-focused updates for executive stakeholders identifying impact, risk, action, ownership, and timeline.
- Anticipate operational problems, challenge incomplete information, ensure due diligence before major decisions, and escalate material risks before they become client-facing failures.
- Drive vendor accountability, monitor service levels and performance through Corrigo CMMS, manage work-order aging and prioritization, and identify trends to improve portfolio performance.
- Support financial management including invoice validation, forecasting, and cost control; ensure work is properly scoped and authorized within established controls while identifying and escalating significant variances or financial risks.

Required Qualifications:

- Active U.S. Government security clearance is required.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible facilities management experience, including meaningful experience managing multiple facilities and directly supervising facilities professionals.
- Demonstrated hands-on people-management experience with the ability to coach, develop, delegate and hold team members accountable.
- Strong organizational and prioritization capabilities with demonstrated ability to independently manage complex and competing operational demands.
- Strong working knowledge of commercial building systems, maintenance operations, preventive maintenance, life-safety requirements and facilities management practices.
- Experience responding to significant facility incidents and operational disruptions.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)

Preferred Qualifications:

- Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), Project Management Professional (PMP), LEED or comparable industry certification.
- Experience supporting Class A buildings that are secure and/or classified facilities and federal government customers.
- Experience operating within government contracting, defense, aerospace, technology or another complex or regulated corporate environment.
- Experience leading geographically dispersed, multi-site facilities portfolios.
- Experience supporting construction/project activities, workplace changes, facility openings/closures and office decommissioning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business, Construction Management or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
- Corrigo CMMS experience
