PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Restaurant Field Trainer is a field-based training and development role responsible for driving consistent MIT/FIT training execution, developing restaurant trainers and leaders, and supporting the effectiveness of Slim Chickens training programs across assigned restaurants. This position is a key extension of the Field Training Department, evaluating training effectiveness, coordinating priorities, and partnering with restaurant leadership to improve team capability and operational execution.
Field Training Coaches are high-performing restaurant leaders with strong operational expertise and a demonstrated ability to develop others. They independently manage assigned training responsibilities, exercise discretion in coaching and development approaches, and provide recommendations to Training and Operations leadership.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Trainer & Leadership Development
- Develop and coach Certified Trainers to improve their ability to train, coach, and develop restaurant teams
- Manage the in-restaurant training experience for assigned Managers/Franchisees-in-Training (MITs/FITs), coordinating training schedules, trainer assignments, and performance assessments
- Provide coaching and development to ensure each MIT progresses successfully toward certification
- Identify high-potential employees and recommend development opportunities
- Promote a culture of accountability, coaching, and continuous development
Training Standards & Restaurant Partnership
- Evaluate training execution against established Slim Chickens standards and identify trends or gaps
- Analyze trainee performance and certification results to identify areas needing development
- Support Certified Training Restaurants (CTRs) in maintaining established expectations and execution of standards
- Provide recommendations to Training and Operations leadership based on field observations and data
- Partner with General Managers to identify training needs and establish training priorities
- Consult with restaurant leadership on employee development, trainer effectiveness, and training execution
- Balance training priorities with restaurant operational needs, escalating significant concerns as needed
Training Strategy & Program Execution
- Execute assigned Training Department initiatives and coordinate training activities based on restaurant needs and priorities
- Assess training effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve trainee performance and program execution in the restaurants
- Support the implementation of new training programs, tools, systems, and menu or operational initiatives
- Provide recommendations to the Field Training Manager on improving training programs and resources
Communication & Reporting
- Maintain consistent communication with the Field Training Manager on assigned restaurants and training priorities
- Provide weekly updates on MIT/FIT training performance
- Provide regular updates on trainer performance and training trends
Field Training Support
- Support MIT, FIT, CTR, and other Field Training initiatives as assigned
- Participate in training events, workshops, and certifications
- Represent the Training Department professionally with restaurant leadership and field teams

Slim Chickens systems principles and objectives: Has a thorough understanding of Slim Chickens' established operating systems (e.g., quality, food safety, security, restaurant environment, company policies, safety) and recognizes the responsibility to stay updated on these systems and the role this position plays in supporting them.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is designed to guide the activities of the Field Training Coach. It is not meant to restrict the individual's creativity or limit their thinking, nor does it encompass all the tasks that may be required in this role.
Physical Activities: Primarily performed in restaurant environments supporting training and leadership development, including during live operations. Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and perform the physical requirements associated with restaurant operations and training in a fast-paced environment. Requires flexibility to work varied schedules based on restaurant and training needs.
Travel: Travel between assigned restaurants as needed to support training responsibilities, events, workshops, and certifications.
Work Environment: This role works primarily in restaurant environments supporting training and leadership development, including during live operations. Travel between restaurants may be required based on assigned responsibilities, and the position requires flexibility to work varied schedules based on restaurant and training needs.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES
- 1+ year of restaurant leadership, training, or related experience preferred
- Experience as a Training leader, Assistant Manager, or General Manager strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success developing employees and restaurant leaders
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities and exercise sound judgment in a field-based environment
- Ability to work effectively during peak restaurant operating periods and live service
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations
- Ability to evaluate performance and identify development opportunities
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build relationships and influence restaurant leadership
- Ability to work independently while staying aligned with department objectives
Technical Experience: Proficiency with restaurant technology including POS, KDS, tablets, and mobile systems, as well as Microsoft Office or similar business software.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Additional education or training in leadership, business, or a related field preferred.
