About this role
Reporting to the VP, Finance EMEA, the Senior Manager (SM)/ Associate Director (AD) Accounting will manage the monthly close process and ensure timelines are met. The SM/AD Accounting will serve as the primary coordinator for the monthly close across EMEA entities (CH, IE, DE, and future markets), partnering closely with the global accounting team in alignment with the company close calendar. The SM/AD Accounting will establish and maintain processes to ensure compliance with SOX and external reporting requirements.
The position requires the ability to excel in a rapidly evolving environment, analyze existing processes, and propose and implement improvements. The successful candidate will maintain a positive, collaborative attitude while staying well organized in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.
This role requires strong organization, clear communication, attention to detail, and a strong sense of teamwork, and will help build a critical function at a growing, evolving, multi-product biotechnology company.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage a timely close process for both revenue and OPEX for EMEA entities in line with global accounting processes.
- Implement and maintain robust Gross‑to‑Net (GTN) accounting processes (including rebates, clawbacks, etc.), with reconciliation of related balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and compile month‑end financial schedules for internal management and external reporting purposes.
- Partner with the Accounts Payable team for EMEA.
- Support the Concur tool for EMEA employees.
- Establish, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures, including SOX compliance and internal controls.
- Perform detailed account analyses and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support intercompany financial flows.
- Provide statutory accounting support and coordinate with external firms.
- Serve as the go-to person for RTR and RTP for EMEA.
- Support ad hoc projects as needed (e.g., cash collection, payroll accounting).
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- 5–7 years of experience in an accounting role.
- Big 4 experience is a strong plus.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS is required.
- ERP (NetSuite, SAP) knowledge is a strong plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong organization and communication skills are required.
- Strong Excel and general computer skills are required.
- Experience working in a public company is preferred.
- Life sciences industry experience is preferred.
- Fluency in English is required. Additional European languages are an asset.
