We are seeking a dedicated Food & Nutrition Services Supervisor to lead sanitation and dishroom operations, oversee daily workflows, and ensure compliance with food safety, infection prevention, and service excellence standards.
The Food & Nutrition Services Supervisor directs and coordinates the activities of team members responsible for cleaning, sanitation, and service ware management. This role monitors staff performance, provides training and guidance, manages inventory and supplies, and ensures all departmental standards are consistently met. The supervisor promotes a positive work environment while maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily sanitation, dishroom, and support service operations.
- Monitor staff assignments, workflow efficiency, and performance to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Provide coaching, training, orientation, and ongoing support to Food Service Assistants.
- Adjust staffing assignments and schedules to maintain appropriate operational coverage.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, infection prevention, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain dish machine and pot washing machine temperature logs and sanitizer solution records.
- Perform and oversee routine equipment inspections and weekly deliming procedures.
- Communicate maintenance needs and follow through on repair requests.
- Support quality assurance initiatives and promote continuous improvement.
- Foster positive relationships with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and team members.
- Assist with high-volume service periods and staffing shortages to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Maintain a safe work environment and promptly report safety concerns or hazards.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of institutional food service experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Intermediate computer proficiency.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of food service operations, sanitation standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience training and mentoring staff.
- Strong customer service and problem-solving abilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Working Conditions
- Regular interaction with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
- Potential exposure to infectious diseases; adherence to established safety precautions is required.
Supervises: Food Service Assistant I, II, and III staff members

This position has a starting rate of $19.26 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $22.47 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $23.54 per hour.
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
