The City of Irvine seeks collaborative and innovative individuals to take a key customer service role in the development of Irvine’s new, locally operated, and world-class public library system. The Part-time Library Associate I, under direct supervision, performs a variety of library clerical, technical, and customer service tasks.

If you are experienced in assisting library customers in the use of library services and technology, and are excited about the prospect of joining an organization that values people and community, the Part-time Library Associate I could be an excellent opportunity for you! Please note that this position will require evening, morning, and weekend shifts.

Your Impact

- Assist library customers in the use of library services and technology; perform lending services functions, such as checking in/out materials, and registering new patron accounts.
- Handle money for fees or other purposes.
- Assist with interpreting library policies and procedures for customers; maintain confidentiality of customer records.
- Respond to customers regarding general and routine directional inquiries and refer customers to appropriate resources and staff.
- Assist with collection maintenance as directed.
- As directed, assist with the supervision of facility rentals and enforce rules applicable to that reservation.

Minimum Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent with some clerical and/or customer service experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.
- Ability to possess or obtain a First Aid and CPR certification within three months of employment is required.
