Job Summary:

The Enterprise Portfolio Lead is the day-to-day owner of the integrated enterprise transformation portfolio This role converts enterprise strategy and executive direction into a transparent, decision-ready portfolio view that enables leaders to prioritize investments, sequence work, balance capacity, manage dependencies, and intervene when outcomes are at risk The role leads portfolio intake, planning, governance, and performance routines across Transformation Office initiatives while partnering closely with delivery, change, value, analytics, Finance, Technology, and business leaders The Enterprise Portfolio Lead does not replace executive sponsors, business owners, or initiative delivery leads Instead, the role creates the discipline, evidence, and cross-portfolio coordination required for those leaders to make informed decisions and deliver enterprise outcomes

Job Duties:

Portfolio intake and qualification

- Manages the enterprise intake process for proposed transformation initiatives, including required business need, strategic alignment, intended outcomes, sponsorship, ownership, value, risk, capacity, and readiness information
- Facilitates initial qualification and due diligence with sponsors, business owners, Finance, Technology, Change, and other partners
- Identifies proposals that are duplicative, insufficiently defined, misaligned to strategy, or not ready for investment
- Prepares clear recommendations to advance, refine, defer, combine, or decline proposed initiatives
- Maintains a transparent pipeline of proposed, approved, active, paused, and completed work

Prioritization and portfolio planning

- Translates enterprise strategy into practical prioritization criteria and portfolio decision frameworks
- Leads annual, quarterly, and ad hoc portfolio planning and reprioritization cycles
- Assesses initiatives across strategic importance, enterprise value, urgency, risk, complexity, capacity, dependencies, change impact, and organizational readiness
- Develops scenarios and tradeoff analyses that show the implications of starting, stopping, accelerating, pausing, or resequencing work
- Recommends a balanced portfolio that reflects enterprise priorities and realistic delivery capacity

Integrated roadmap and dependency management

- Maintains the integrated enterprise transformation roadmap across priorities, programs, and major projects
- Identifies cross-initiative dependencies, shared milestones, resource conflicts, decision constraints, and sequencing risks
- Coordinates with delivery leads to ensure initiative plans align with portfolio commitments and enterprise timing
- Facilitates resolution of conflicts that cannot be solved within a single initiative
- Escalates portfolio-level dependencies and tradeoffs with clear options, implications, and recommendations

Portfolio governance and decision support

- Designs and manages portfolio review routines, stage gates, and governance calendars
- Prepares decision-ready materials for the National Managing Principal, Executive Team, sponsors, and portfolio governance forums
- Maintains an integrated view of portfolio health, including outcomes, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, value, adoption, and capacity
- Ensures governance discussions focus on enterprise outcomes, tradeoffs, and required decisions rather than activity reporting
- Tracks portfolio decisions, conditions, and executive commitments through closure

Capacity and resource visibility

- Maintains a portfolio-level view of resource demand, available capacity, critical skills, and competing commitments
- Partners with functional leaders and delivery leads to identify resource gaps and timing constraints
- Supports recommendations regarding staffing, sequencing, secondments, contractors, and surge capacity
- Identifies when portfolio demand exceeds enterprise execution or change capacity
- Provides evidence-based recommendations to rebalance work before capacity constraints cause avoidable delays

Portfolio performance and continuous improvement

- Partners with Analytics and Reporting to establish portfolio data standards, reporting cycles, quality controls, and executive views
- Analyzes patterns in delivery performance, decision aging, risks, dependencies, adoption, value realization, and resource utilization
- Identifies systemic execution issues and recommend corrective actions across the portfolio
- Maintains portfolio history, lessons learned, and decision rationale to improve future planning
- Refines portfolio methods, tools, and governance practices as the Transformation Office matures

Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Establishes performance goals and operating expectations for direct reports
- Conducts performance reviews and provides ongoing performance feedback
- Allocates work, monitors workload, and addresses performance concerns

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education

- High school diploma or G.E.D., required
- Bachelor’s degree; focus in relevant portfolio, program, project, strategy, or transformation credentials, preferred

Experience

- Six (6) years of experience in enterprise portfolio management, strategic planning, transformation, program management, corporate strategy, or an enterprise PMO, required
- Experience managing a portfolio of complex, cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed organization, preferred
- Experience applying an understanding of portfolio intake, prioritization, sequencing, stage-gate governance, capacity planning, dependency management, and performance reporting, preferred
- Experience synthesizing incomplete or competing information into clear options, tradeoffs, and recommendations for senior leaders, preferred

License(s)/Certification(s)

- Project Management Professional (PMP), preferred
- Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), preferred
- Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), preferred
- Program Management Professional (PgMP), preferred
- Prosci Change Management certification, preferred
- Additional portfolio, program, Agile, change management, or transformation-related certifications, preferred

Software

- Microsoft Office, required
- Portfolio and project management technologies, including Microsoft Planner, Microsoft Project for the Web, Azure DevOps, Power BI, Microsoft Teams, and related portfolio reporting and collaboration platforms, preferred
- Financial planning and analysis software, preferred

- Ability to challenge assumptions and hold leaders accountable without relying on positional authority

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $150,000 - $200,000
Maryland Range: $150,000 - $200,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $150,000 - $200,000
