Job Description:
Turn data into understanding. Help shape what comes next.
Iowa State University is seeking an Enrollment Reporting Lead to help teams turn complex data into clear insights and informed decisions. Your work will support recruitment, enrollment planning, and student success—helping us better serve our Cyclones in the Making and the students they become.
We’re a “creative yes” organization. We approach challenges with curiosity, explore what’s possible, and work together to find a path forward. If you enjoy uncovering what people need to know and building the tools that help them act, you’ll find meaningful work here.
Your impact
You’ll serve as Enrollment Management’s primary data storyteller, lead a reporting team, and shape how enrollment information is delivered and understood. Working across Admissions, the Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, and campus partners, you will:
- Make data meaningful. Translate complex enrollment information into clear, accurate, visually compelling reports and dashboards that help people make decisions.
- Build useful solutions. Develop SQL queries, automated reports, and dashboards using tools such as Excel, Salesforce, and Power BI. Turn recurring requests into reliable, accessible reporting.
- Connect questions to answers. Guide reporting requests from intake through delivery, clarifying needs, setting priorities, and keeping partners informed.
- Lead and develop people. Supervise, coach, and support reporting staff, creating clear expectations and opportunities to grow.
- Deliver reporting projects. Coordinate requirements, timelines, testing, and stakeholder input for cross-functional dashboards, executive analytics, and regulatory reporting support.
- Build confidence in the data. Lead development of an Enrollment Management data dictionary, establish consistent definitions with campus partners, and help colleagues use reporting tools effectively.
What will help you thrive
You pair technical skill with a storyteller’s instinct. You ask thoughtful questions, care about accuracy, and explain findings in ways that resonate with different audiences. You bring a project leader’s discipline to the work by turning requests into clear plans, coordinating people and priorities, and following through from initial requirements to a tested, useful solution. You communicate proactively, address roadblocks, and keep projects moving. You enjoy developing people as much as improving processes and can balance immediate reporting needs with solutions that make everyone’s work easier over time.
Why Iowa State
Your work will help university leaders and campus teams understand enrollment trends, evaluate strategies, and make decisions that support students throughout their Iowa State experience.
You’ll have opportunities to shape reporting practices across Enrollment Management, develop your team, and see your work inform university decisions. Conferences, training, and a national peer network will support your continued professional growth.
Bring your curiosity, technical expertise, and talent for making data make sense. Help us turn insight into action.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with higher education or Enrollment Management data.
- Experience with data governance, data dictionaries, or data quality.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing staff.
- Experience applying data visualization and user-centered design principles to create clear, intuitive, and effective reports and dashboards.
- Experience leading and managing projects from conception through development, implementation, and completion.
