Roles & Responsibilities

- Construction Safety Management: Oversee site safety for all contractors and sub-contractors during the construction phase. Conduct daily safety walks, audits, and inspections; identify and mitigate high-risk construction activities (e.g., working at heights, electrical, heavy equipment). Review and approve contractor safety plans and permit-to-work systems.
- Strategic Leadership & Site Architecture: Design and recruit the long-term safety organization, identifying the skill sets needed for a problem solving focused high performing team. Develop and execute the site-specific EHS roadmap aligned with global GE Vernova standards. Act as a key advisor to the Plant Leader on the implementation of site target conditions.
- Operational Readiness & Transition: Define and implement a robust Safety Operating Rhythm for each project phase: Build, Transition, and Run Operations. Lead MOC process to ensure site transitions (from construction to commissioning to operation) are seamless and safe.
- Safety-by-Design & Risk Mitigation: Lead efforts in PSM (Process Safety Management) collaboration.
- Regulatory & Policy Compliance: Lead all environmental and safety programs, permitting, reporting, and auditing. Ensure the facility maintains perfect standing with OSHA, EPA, and state-level South Carolina environmental agencies.
- Culture & 5S Excellence: Champion a world-class 5S culture as the foundation for safety. Integrate AMRT and RDC into our safety rhythms to ensure cohesive team engagement.
- Training & Capability: Ensure all staff are competent, authorized, and aligned with our specialized safety standards.
- Data-Driven Improvement: Manage site EHS KPIs and digital platforms (Gensuite & Comply Works). Analyze trends to drive "Read Across" improvements and proactive risk reduction.
- Stakeholder Influence: Lead projects with moderate-to-high risk/resource requirements. Explain sensitive information and build consensus across the organization, utilizing persuasion skills to influence safety-first behaviors at all levels.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelors degree in an EHS-related field, or Engineering degree, from an accredited university with at least 7+ years of experience in EHS + EHS regulatory knowledge/experience in the United States.

- Resilience: Ability to maintain composure and clarity during intense build-out transitions and incident investigations.

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $129,000.00 and $214,900.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
