Novastar Prep is seeking an experienced Reading Comprehension and Writing Tutor to provide one-on-one, in-home instruction for a high-achieving 11th-grade student in Arlington, VA (22207).
The ideal tutor is patient, encouraging, and experienced in supporting students with ADHD and executive functioning challenges . Instruction will focus on strengthening reading comprehension, written expression, note-taking, and information organization through structured, individualized teaching strategies.

Role Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one, in-home reading comprehension and writing instruction
- Teach strategies for analyzing texts, identifying key information, making inferences, and organizing written responses
- Develop effective note-taking, information processing, and organizational skills
- Incorporate visual aids, graphic organizers, guided practice, and structured learning strategies
- Adapt instruction to support ADHD-related learning needs and executive functioning skills
- Build student confidence, independence, and measurable academic progress
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in English, Education, or a related field
- Minimum of 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience preferred
- Experience working with students with ADHD strongly preferred
- Strong background in high school reading comprehension and academic writing
- Patient, organized, and skilled at breaking complex tasks into manageable steps
- Reliable transportation for in-home tutoring in Arlington, VA
- Ability to commit to at least one academic semester
- Ability to pass a background check
Schedule & Compensation
- Pay: $30–$40/hour
- Location: Arlington, VA 22207 (in-home)
- Schedule: Once weekly, Monday–Wednesday, 4:30–7:00 PM ET
- Start: ASAP
- Bi-weekly direct deposit
