Uniformed Loss Prevention Officer – Hobart, Tasmania

CONSTANT Security is seeking suitable candidates for a Uniformed Loss Prevention Officer opportunity across various retail locations in Hobart. This role focuses on identifying and deterring theft, monitoring suspicious behaviour, and responding professionally to incidents while supporting the safety and security of retail environments.

The position also offers occasional paid travel to Launceston to support loss prevention operations across stores in Northern Tasmania.

The Role

- Conduct visible security patrols across retail locations to deter theft and suspicious activity.
- Monitor customer activity and identify potential loss prevention risks.
- Detect, deter, and respond appropriately to suspected shoplifting and retail theft.
- Maintain a professional and approachable presence within the store environment.
- Respond to incidents in accordance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
- Liaise with store management, retail staff, and other stakeholders as required.
- Prepare accurate incident reports and maintain detailed shift records.
- Follow established procedures for evidence handling and incident escalation.
- Support loss prevention operations across multiple retail locations in Hobart.
- Participate in occasional 2–3 day loss prevention operations in Launceston, with travel arrangements and applicable costs covered in accordance with company policy.

Roster and Availability

- Permanent roster: Tuesday to Friday, with occasional Monday and weekend shifts.
- Shift duration: 8 hours.
- Shift times: Varying between 7:00 am–3:00 pm and 12:00 pm–8:00 pm.
- Locations: Various retail stores across Hobart.
- Travel: Occasional paid trips to Launceston every few months for 2–3-day operations across Northern Tasmania.

Candidates must be comfortable working across different retail locations and have the flexibility to accommodate the roster requirements, including occasional additional shifts and regional travel.

What We’re Looking For

- A current Tasmanian security licence, or the relevant licence required to perform security duties in Tasmania.
- Strong observation skills and the ability to identify potential risks.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A professional approach to dealing with customers, retail staff, and challenging situations.
- The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong written communication skills for completing incident reports.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to following procedures.
- Availability to work the advertised roster and travel to Launceston when required.

Desirable:

- Previous experience in retail security or loss prevention.
- Experience identifying and responding to shoplifting incidents.
- Knowledge of retail security procedures and incident reporting.
- Experience working across multiple retail sites.
