Data and AI Engineering Intern

Internship Period: 11 January 2027 – 30 June 2027

Job Description

The intern will be part of the Infrastructure Engineering team and contribute to the development of an AI-powered Operations Intelligence platform designed to improve the efficiency of Storage, Backup, Monitoring, and Infrastructure Operations teams.

1. Project Discovery & Operational Analysis

• Work closely with infrastructure engineers to understand operational workflows, incident management processes, and troubleshooting methods.

• Analyze how engineers currently investigate alerts, incidents, backup failures, storage issues, and monitoring events.

• Identify opportunities where AI can improve operational efficiency, knowledge retrieval, and decision support.

• Document operational use cases and prioritize potential AI solutions.

2. AI Solution Development

• Develop proof-of-concept AI capabilities that assist engineers with infrastructure operations.

Build AI-assisted workflows that can:

• Summarize operational alerts and incidents

• Explain infrastructure events in plain language

• Provide contextual troubleshooting guidance

• Recommend relevant operational documentation and knowledge articles

• Experiment with Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, and operational intelligence techniques.

3. Data Integration & Enrichment

Assist in integrating operational data from enterprise infrastructure platforms including:

• Commvault Backup & Recovery

• Dell PowerScale Storage

• Dynatrace Monitoring

• ServiceNow Incident Management

• Internal operational documentation repositories

• Build capabilities that correlate information across multiple systems to provide richer operational context.

4. User Experience & Platform Integration

• Assist in exposing AI capabilities through Microsoft Teams and other enterprise collaboration tools.

• Improve presentation of operational insights and recommendations to engineers.

• Help create intuitive user interactions that support day-to-day operations.

Job Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or any related technical disciplines

• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with programming languages such as JavaScript or TypeScript, with an understanding of software development concepts, APIs, REST services, and version control.

• Interest in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Generative AI, with basic knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs), Prompt Engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Vector Databases, and Knowledge Retrieval Systems.

• Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and cloud technologies, including monitoring and observability, storage, backup and recovery, IT service management, and AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI, Ollama, or Hugging Face being an added advantage.
