The Teacher of Music plays a key role in delivering a high-quality, engaging learning experience that fosters creativity, inquiry, critical and thinking through the study and performance of music.
This position supports primary and secondary school students in developing future-focused skills through hands-on learning through exploration, composition, and performance within diverse musical contexts. The role contributes to the broader aims of the Arts faculty, including collaboration on interdisciplinary projects, enrichment activities, and alignment with the school’s educational vision and global partnerships.
The teacher is expected to support curriculum implementation, student engagement, and innovation within a dynamic, inclusive international environment.

What you will do
- Deliver engaging and effective learning experiences in Music.
- Maintain high standards for student achievement and classroom conduct.
- Promote problem-solving, creativity, and design thinking across all student abilities.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Employ data-informed, differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Integrate ICT tools effectively into teaching and support digital learning.
- Act as a Form Tutor and contribute to the implementation of the IB curriculum. Take responsibility for developing and implementing schemes of work and lesson plans in line with the requirements of the curriculum and school policies.
- Develop short, medium and long-term plans in line with curriculum objectives.
- Ensure rigorous assessment to provide effective and timely feedback to students.
What you will bring
- Qualified teacher with experience teaching in an international environment
- Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure for all countries lived in
- Compliance with visa requirements for working in Ireland
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, and a willingness to undertake appropriate child protection training when required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music or a related subject.
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, HDipEd, or equivalent).
Experience:
- Strong teaching background with experience in the secondary curriculum.
- Familiarity with GCSE/IGCSE Music or similar educational context.
Skills:
- Expertise in the designated subject area, with the ability to make complex topics accessible and engaging to adolescent learners.
- Proficient classroom management skills tailored to the developmental and social dynamics of secondary students.
- Strong communication skills, essential for effective teaching, mentoring, and guidance of students in preparation for higher education or vocational paths.
- Competence in employing technology and digital tools for subject-specific learning and research.
Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of the secondary curriculum, exam requirements, and effective teaching strategies for adolescents.
- Awareness of the challenges and opportunities in secondary education, including career guidance, social-emotional learning, and student autonomy.

- A commitment to supporting students' academic and personal growth, helping them navigate the challenges of adolescence with empathy and understanding.
- The ability to inspire, motivate, and challenge secondary students to achieve their full potential and prepare for their future careers or further education.
