🌍 About the role
We are looking for an experienced SHES Specialist to join our Africa North team and make a meaningful impact at our Tasiast Mine in Mauritania . In this role, you will work alongside operational leaders and site teams to build a strong safety culture, improve SHES performance, and ensure our operations are conducted responsibly and sustainably.
Combining technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement, you will play a key role in implementing SHES programs, managing risk, supporting compliance, and championing continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to influence outcomes at site level while contributing to broader regional objectives and helping shape a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future.
âś… Key responsibilities
- Support the implementation of SHES programs, systems, and improvement initiatives.
- Partner with leaders to strengthen safety culture and operational excellence.
- Support incident investigations, corrective actions, and risk management activities.
- Monitor compliance with relevant regulations and company standards.
- Deliver SHES training and coaching to site teams.
- Collaborate with regional and global SHES stakeholders to share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
👩‍🎓What you’ll bring
- Degree in Safety, Environment, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (or higher qualification)
- Experience in SHES, ideally within mining, explosives, oil & gas, or another high-risk operational environment
- Knowledge of risk management, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively across diverse teams and cultures
- Excellent communication skills in English, French and Arabic
