## Project Overview:

Rio Grange LNG (RGLNG), developed by NextDecade, is one of the largest construction projects in the United States. Bechtel is the EPC contractor at the Port Isabel site since being awarded NTP in 2023. Phase 1 of the project is due for completion in 2027 and Phase 2, involving the potential build of additional Trains and Loading Berths, will take several more years to complete. Bechtel is recruiting for an experienced, collaborative leader to take on the role of Lead Field Engineer for the construction for the build of this facility.

## Job Summary:

In this role, the Lead Civil Field Engineer will lead a team of field engineers and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities within your designated scope operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. Your scope will include technical oversight of field engineering activities over mass earthworks, utility trenches, soil stabilization, concrete piling, site drainage, temporary facilities, roads, and other scopes as identified by the project management team. #LI-RM1

## Major Responsibilities:

- Performs the duties of a Lead Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section.
- Guides and Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within the civil engineering discipline.
- Coordinates with design on constructability issues.
- Reviews material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials.
- Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting, and forecasting.
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Possesses responsibility for coordinating between Construction and Startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the Startup Specialist as required to support system turnover.
- Work with project controls in identifying and managing scope trends
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans and reports
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals with engineering leads
- Prepares field change documents, non-conformance reports and requests for information (if required)
- Manage the preparation of requisitions for Field Material Requisitions and Field Service Requisitions.
- Reviews and provides input to the project staffing plan for construction engineers and associated
- Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.

## Education and Experience Requirements:

- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9 -12 years of relevant work experience​

## Required Knowledge and Skills:

•         Have a working knowledge of structural construction operations, construction surveying, excavation and backfill operations, concrete piling, and concrete/precast installation.

•         Technical knowledge of drainage on infrastructure projects, including open-cut excavation, trenching, grading, and general construction work in and around sensitive watercourses.

•         Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.

•         Familiarity with current industry quality standards.

•         Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.

•         Direct hire mass excavation and backfill.

•         Direct hire shallow soil stabilization and soil improvement.

•         Direct hire stockpile management and onsite trucking management experience.

•         Direct hire piling experience.

•         Direct hire Marine Experience would be a plus.

•         Experience of roadway construction and mass grading.

•         Knowledge of craft production, QURR and scheduling.

•         Sound communication skills.

•         Sound interpersonal and teamwork skills.

•         Knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development.

•         Experience in civil construction on large LNG projects is a must

•         Previous superintendent experience within civil/marine discipline.
