About this role
About Us
Lam Research is a leading global manufacturer of capital equipment used in making leading-edge semiconductors across the world. We primarily compete in four specific areas – deposition, etch, photoresist strip, and single wafer clean. Lam Research India team is organized into three major areas of responsibility: Hardware, Software, and Operations. We have an open position in the Hardware group. The Hardware group designs subassemblies and subsystems for Lam’s product lines, providing innovation for the next-generation products, providing improvements in cost and reliability.
There is an opening for the role of Mechanical Engineer 2 within the Customer Support Business Group (CSBG) of LIGHT organization. This position will be based out of Bangalore and will closely be working with the Engineering & Cross-functional teams across global regions of Lam Research like US & India. CSBG mainly focuses on delivering value to customers throughout the product lifecycle by providing Spares, Upgrades, and services to maximize the value of customer capital assets.
This high energy individual will focus on development and support for Productivity and Technology Upgrades to our global customers through Non-Standard requests, for our Etch product lines. - Work with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and suppliers to understand product requirements, evaluate design options, and support project deliverables.
- Develop and refine mechanical design concepts and translate defined requirements into practical component and subsystem solutions using appropriate materials such as metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and coating/plating technologies.
- Perform engineering design, CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, and detailed documentation in accordance with Lam standards, SEMI standards, applicable industry standards, and Best Known Methods (BKMs).
- Apply standard engineering principles and defined procedures to perform design evaluations involving structural, thermal, vibration, fluid/gas flow, manufacturability, reliability, and cost considerations for moderately scoped problems.
- Develop and execute test plans for component and subsystem verification, collect and analyze characterization data, and document conclusions against defined requirements.
- Identify design risks, investigate test or build issues using structured problem-solving methods, and support corrective actions and design improvements.
- Prepare clear technical reports, design review material, and project updates that communicate design intent, analysis, test results, risks, and recommended actions.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs, and release documentation by following Product Development & Release (PDR) and Engineering Change Management processes.
