This open position is for Armanino India LLP. Armanino India LLP is a fully owned subsidiary of Armanino (USA).
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to U.S.-based clients on payroll operations, compliance, controls, and process improvement.
- Lead discovery and solution discussions to understand client needs, identify root causes, and recommend practical solutions.
- Develop trusted relationships with client executives, HR leaders, finance teams, controllers, and operational stakeholders.
- Explain complex payroll, tax, and compliance issues in clear business language.
- Support payroll assessments, payroll transformations, payroll technology initiatives, payroll transitions, and operational improvement projects.
- Identify risks, compliance concerns, and opportunities for process optimization.
- Collaborate with client HR and Benefits teams, HR/Payroll technology, and accounting teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
- ## U.S. Payroll Compliance & Technical Leadership
- Maintain advanced knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex payroll matters.
- Provide guidance regarding Multi-state payroll compliance
- Provide guidance regarding Payroll tax registrations
- Provide guidance regarding Wage and hour requirements
- Provide guidance regarding FLSA compliance and Garnishments and levies
- Provide guidance regarding Payroll tax notices and agency inquiries
- Provide guidance regarding Year-end reporting and filings
- Provide guidance regarding Payroll controls and risk management
- Provide guidance regardingMulti-Platform Payroll Expertise
- Monitor regulatory developments and communicate impacts to clients and internal teams.
- Establish and maintain payroll standards, procedures, and quality controls.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop payroll professionals across the India delivery organization.
- Establish technical training programs focused on U.S. payroll regulations, payroll tax compliance, payroll technology, and client service.
- Build consulting and advisory capabilities across the payroll team.
- Create career development plans and succession strategies for payroll staff.
- Conduct regular performance coaching and professional development discussions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, collaboration, and service excellence.
- Ensure team members can confidently communicate with U.S.-based clients and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee payroll service delivery across assigned clients and engagements.
- Ensure payroll services are delivered accurately, timely, and in accordance with established quality standards.
- Manage resource planning, staffing capacity, workload balancing, and service delivery metrics.
- Establish operational processes that support consistency, scalability, and efficiency.
- Monitor service quality and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve service delivery and client outcomes.
- Support business development efforts by participating in prospect meetings, solution discussions, and proposal development.
- Contribute to scope development, pricing discussions, and service design.
- Identify opportunities to expand payroll services within existing client relationships.
- Support thought leadership initiatives, training programs, webinars, and client education efforts.
- Help develop scalable payroll service offerings and delivery methodologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive payroll experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting U.S. payroll operations and compliance.
- Experience leading payroll teams within a consulting, outsourcing, professional services, BPO, or managed services environment.
- Experience managing client relationships and communicating directly with executive stakeholders.
- Experience supporting multi-state payroll environments and complex payroll structures.
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or equivalent payroll certification preferred.
- Additional payroll, compliance, or workforce management certifications are a plus.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations, payroll tax requirements, and compliance obligations.
- Strong understanding of payroll systems, payroll operations, and payroll controls.
- Ability to analyze payroll issues and identify practical business solutions.
- Strong consulting, client relationship, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead client discussions and represent the practice professionally.
- Experience developing and mentoring payroll professionals.
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively across global teams and multiple client environments.
